Read with my 8 year old, review given by him.. “Maybe written for someone a little older than 8. I didn’t understand some parts at the beginning but I enjoyed the rest of the book. A nice short read. It was quite funny.”

When a supply teacher turns up to his school Carmichael Taylor, known as Car for short, decides it is too much of an opportunity to mess with him and see how far he can be pushed but when the rest of the class join in and cause serious trouble for the supply teacher it will be down to Car to decide how much responsibility he has for it as the entire class did get detention meaning he was just a small part of it all really.

This book is beautifully written, has a real charm about it and a story that worked well and delivered on a read that is one of the best I have seen in a children's book for a long time and so is a book I highly recommend.

I’ve been looking at this author for a while and took the opportunity to sample a small piece of his work. I’m not sure it’s convinced me to rush out and buy any more of his books….

A good class reader for a mixed-ability Year 7 class. Provides plenty of opportunities for tasks on etymology, learning new vocabulary and songwriting.
