What do you do when you’ve already won the game of life? Share the secrets you’ve learned so everyone else can win too! At least, that’s what we decided to do. After all, we didn’t set out to win anything when we each took a chance on ourselves and followed our dreams. We both just knew there had to be something more than the unfulfilling lives we were living. We each took a step and the Universe rose up to meet us—taking us on a wild adventure up the mountain of success, health, fitness, happiness, love, fulfillment, and inner peace. Now, we wake up every day feeling like we’ve won the game of life. How could we possibly keep all this goodness to ourselves?
A Creative Rebel’s Guide to Winning the Game of Life is coming soon from the minds behind the blockbuster New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling romance brand Meghan March—the epic wife and husband team, Meggan and Jacob Wilson.
Prepare yourself for self-help like you’ve never read before. Books are magic. They can change your life—especially this one.
Meggan Wilson is a reader first and a writer second who believes books are magic and love conquers all. She’s also living the life of her dreams in the peaceful woods of the PNW with her soul mate.
Jacob Wilson is a philosopher living the life of his dreams in the peaceful woods of the PNW with his soul mate.
Meggan and Jake share the secrets of their success.
They have made many changes to their lives over the last few years that have had such a profound impact on their health, wealth and happiness. These changes were not all made at once, they have done a lot of research and spent time making little tweaks here and there to give them the life they only ever dreamed of having.
There are some really good things/ideas that I took out of this book that I will implement into my own life and I’m sure that other readers will find their own too.
It’s so wonderful to read something so uplifting and to see the profound effect of finding the right balance in life to achieve what you were destined to be.
I admire the hell out of Meghan March and what she's been able to achieve. I'm so glad she's happy and she's taking care of herself.
However, I have a big problem with folks like this toting their very specific way of living as prescription and the end all be all. There's no room left in this narrative for nuance and everything is presented as gospel, which I didn't care for at all. This would've worked much better as a dual memoir--how they themselves changed their lives with the appropriate framing. Like "this worked for me and looked how my life changed!" This did not work for me as a how-to guide.
A majority of this book feels like regurgitation of other works consumed by the authors, so it didn't present anything new, besides a highly-individualized extreme way of living. In my own opinion, the vast majority of the population would crash and burn living their lifestyles and might have the counter effect of destroying their mental health, something the authors are trying to improve in their readers.
This book is also woo woo, and talks about the divine plan, source, God, and the universe. If you don't prescribe to this way of thinking, you may feel a lot of resistance to the message. I'm the opposite of woo woo, so I rolled my eyes a TON.
I did find this book irresponsible and I really implore folks reading this book to take what resonates and toss the rest. Mentioning that you spent every penny you had and then BOOM you got a windfall of success and cash without a caveat, in my opinion, is dangerous.
I also had issues with the writing. The words "awesome" and "magical" come up a lot as filler words as the authors try to validate their message.
I listened to this on Hoopla (do check your local library because I would advise against using an Audible credit)--the narration was fine. It was a great choice to relegate Jake to reading the chapter headers and epigraphs--Meggan is a stronger narrator.
This is a story written with heart. Our authors could have taken what they learned and kept it to themselves. Instead, they’ve decided to share and hope that something will speak to you. Then maybe you can pass it along. They make it easy to read. Maybe take it a chapter at a time and think about how you could use what you’ve read.
There are questions asked that you may find that you want to answer. Keeping a pen and paper handy might be something to think about. And that’s what this book does – it gets you to think. This is not something that is going to change your life overnight. This is a self-help book but it might also be considered a memoir. The authors give you a little background of how they went on this journey of self-discovery.
Even picking out things here and there may start you on your own journey. There are quotes in the book that you may find you want to investigate. Make sure to check out the Notes at the end, they will help you with that. For me, there were things that I highlighted. Being in a cancer survivor group, I read things here that we’ve touched on and I plan to bring some of that back to them.
Nobody changes overnight – it's all a process. This book shows what that process did for our authors. Make sure to read all the way to the end. They list some things that may help you start your own journey. You are given tools to help you build a different life from the ground up.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I devoured this! I don't even know where to start with this. It sucks you in from the very beginning because the writing speaks to you but the way everything is laid out, is simple but real and raw and I couldn't help but keep nodding my head and saying "yes". It's inspiring and I love how Meg and Jacob laid it all out. While I read an e-copy of this, I will also be picking up the actual book because this is one of those that you need to keep on your shelf.
I’m a Meghan March (obsessed) reader turned Creative Rebel fan! I didn’t know what to expect out of this book when I started it, but am so happy I decided to give it a go. My favorite is Meggan writing to you like a friend. It makes reading so much easier. My favorite parts of the book were about changing your mindset. Fake it till you make it all the way! Highly recommend if you have an open mind and a desire to be better.
I was going into this book with an open mind. I really was. I'm not much of a self-help books reader, but I love this author's writing very much and thought why not give it a try- and I was proved right by me again. I'm sadly admitting, this is not my cup of tea. So it's just a kind of it's not you it's me failure.
I like the author from reading other books, so I dove into this one, is not my cup of tea at all but I went in anyway, the book is interesting and if you like this sort of book I think is a good read overall. It has some insight and different perspectives. So give it a go if you like self-help books.
A Personal Growth Book That Covers All The Essentials!
I listened to this book last Monday, then turned right around and re-listened to it today!
This book was absolutely fantastic and is a great blueprint for when you are ready to change your life and chase your dreams. And the word “you” is key here because success is a decision. We have to decide to change our lives, and Meggan and Jake do an excellent job explaining that it all starts with ourselves and then go on to give great examples and actions to take to start your journey to become your future self.
If you are new to personal growth, this will cover all you need to know. If you are an avid personal growth reader, you will love Meggan and Jake’s life experience and take on all the essentials to creating the life you want. You’ll even find some eye opening moments, like I did, on the health chapter. WOW. Nothing has ever made me want to be healthy before until I read this chapter!
They start with the basics like the universe and energy, and then you’ll get all the gold on the law of attraction, gratitude, positive mindset, money, health, habits, and more. And all with their personal stories attached to it which makes it that much more motivating and inspiring. If they can do it, we can too.
What resonated with me most was reading about Meggan quitting watching tv. She knew if she wanted to achieve her dream, she’d have to let it go. Her example of sacrifice was key for me!
“Once you realize you can change your reality and create one that’s even better than your escape, it’s game on. “ -Meggan Wilson
I am really not a self help reading person. I just never have been, but when Meghan announced that she and Jake were writing this, I knew I wanted to give it a shot, even if I only took one thing away from the book.
Meggan and Jake wrote this in a way that was very easy to read. I picked it up and put it down several times, reading chapters in between reading other books. I found that I had to take it in in bits and pieces. But they are the first to tell you to take out of it what you can.
Did I find out anything that I felt was earth shattering and would change my life? Not really. As I said in the beginning, I'm not a self help book reader. I am glad I read this, I made a few notes along the way. Whether I implement anything I read remains to be seen, but I am glad Meggan and Jake put this information out into the world.
I'm a big believer in things happen for a reason. So I think this book was thrust into my path because I needed to hear everything that Meggan and Jake had to say. Especially about taking care of your health. This is a book that I would say is self-help but it more meant to be taken as a guide. From chasing your dreams, to money and to health, they talk about it all. In a very real and honest way. My health is a tough topic right now and I appreciated how honest they were, but also understanding. I enjoyed Meggan's perspective the most. Her story of finally ignoring the number on the scale and just focusing on how she felt/just moving for her health. It was a strong eye opener for me. One that I know I need to do something about.
This isn’t my normal go-to but I do enjoy picking one up every once in a while. I believe it’s more than just a self-book. It covers all sorts of topics as if in conversation with a couple friends. I always feel such a connection when I read other people’s trials and tribulations, their experiences and how it help shape them and their lives. Megan and Jacob’s perspectives is refreshing—inspiring. Take a leap and keep an open mind. This might just change your life, or open your eyes to the possibilities.
I was introduced to Meghan’s romance series a few years back. She instantly became my favorite author. I also followed her on Facebook seeing her transformation unfold over time. I had preordered “A Creative Rebel’s Guide to Winning The Game of Life” and was a little apprehensive because I had never read a self help book before. Long story short, this book has opened my universe! I have read it about five times and have also read the recommended book that have been mentioned. I’m super grateful for Meggan and Jake for publishing this book. Easy read!
This is where you read the words and start to say yes and oh yes and this yes. This is a book where you start to believe that you are possible and you can do all your mind can dream. It’s like you can finally stop holding your breathe and begins.
I loved the book; I love all books self-help / power of the mind / positive intent etc. I think MW / JW are on the right track with this type of book. There's lots of good resources for other authors as well. Can't wait to see what else they come up with!
(i've read the sample that Amazon does allow you to see, it was not the best of representation for me? normally when i read a sample from author i go in, without any thought ...i may see what the book is about, subject matter, no matter the genre, i listen and i hope for that encouragement to keep reading? this left me feeling, well ...what am i gonna get? what will $8.88 give me? hope this make sense and that it is a truthful review. i see many other reviews. i wonder if they paid the money? there was a hope to get the book for free from winning her newsletter giveaway, no clue who won that ...and if by chance i am the one who does win, 'cause i didn't see that happening as of yet? i would be so grateful and the need to review, reform and tell my full - the whole book review instead of this ..of what i got. i think you get like maybe 4 or 5 pages??!) i wish there was a place to kind of write this or that ...feeling or so forth ...i have been following MM for quite some time now love her books. i am on her newsletter list. how i heard about this book, i am not knocking it but what i do wish is that ...the "sample" that you receive from Amazon (i am looking into the kindle version, what my thoughts are about here) it is at the purchasing cost of $8.88 that is a lot of money ...by the sample of what i read, it was not earth shaking, shatter, it did not wow me ...it is common logic, how i was raised. i am a Christian. born and raised. i understand somewhat of where she is coming from and i wish her and her husband all the happiness, wellbeing, their lives be blessed, healthy, happy, all that ...no ill will whatsoever. i am just saying i would think that those first few words would truly grab the reader and make them wanna read more. why should i spend $8.88? in those words it should tell me. hope that makes sense. for me ...i will possibly wait til it is a cheaper cost. her other books, i have full faith in knowing that they rock, they are sexy, romantic, cute, funny at times, and they are masterpieces. she is an amazing author. we all deserve the life we wish for. but do realize ...well, like me you might have plan of what you think your life will be ...but honey the minute u think you know what God is gonna do, where he/she is gonna lead ya ... you better start laughing 'cause you are clueless ...never assume you get it. i am 43 .... and all days are a blessing. filled with amazing lessons. some are hard to swallow but i am so thankful for the "road bumps" i have had to endure.
Honestly? This was fantastic and exactly what I never knew I needed to read! I think most people can relate that maybe their life isn’t going the way they hoped or maybe it just seems like everyday is a sh*tstorm… 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️anyone? Anyone? Well it might just be me 😅😅😅.. but if you feel that way at all, maybe gives this book a shot? 🤷🏻♀️ . I have never been more excited and thrilled to change my life 🥰
anywayyyyyy back to the review …. I love how this was written. First of all, it was easy to digest the ideas. They were to the point, organized and important messages were repeated or formatted differently than the rest of the text… I found this extremely helpful as someone that struggles reading books that are not romance novels 😆😆.
Not only were the ideas easy to digest, but the authors link these ideas/facts/truths to various books and such. I can appreciate that and it allows you to investigate on your own, if you’re so inclined. 😉 I know I am ready for change!
Thank you for writing this much-needed book (at least for me). ❤️
A Creative Rebel's Guide to Winning the Game of Life was a thought provoking read and I enjoyed it. This was not a book to rush through but rather one to savor, as there were so many words of wisdom, in addition to the questions you will need to ponder upon. This is the first book I've ever highlighted so much but there were so many phrases I wanted to come back too and read again. While I would admit that I'm aware of some of the information in this novel, I was able to gain some new knowledge and it was also a refresher as I was reminded of what I previous knew. I loved that Meggan and Jacob gave us practical examples of how it all related to their life. This made the book so much more relatable and I was now able to better understand some aspects. Invest in yourself and grab a copy of this book. It was insightful and easy to read and will help improve your quality of life.
Wow, this was a great read! First, I simply loved how she speaks so candidly. It was like we were just having a conversation over coffee! I could feel she was speaking right to me directly and not just telling a story. I was blessed to be raised in a household where many of the things I read about were commonplace in my life. But hearing Meg & Jake's perspective brought another fresh take on it and then also tied in other things they spoke on. Very inspiring, very real. Educates and enlighten by removing things that cause negativity due to learned bias. There is so much great information in here! Do yourself a favor and read it. You never know what you might learn. And like Meggan says, take what resonates with you and leave the rest.
I completely accidentally stumbled upon this book, which is definitely not a genre I usually read. Meggan Wilson's style however is much like her addictive novels so the book is easy and fun to read. Much of it definitely resonated with me and opened my eyes to some things. The last chapters however (about pharmaceuticals, food and health and money) were a bit over the top for me. I get where she is coming from but she is quite drastic and extreme. Maybe it's an American thing? But as she says herself, you can take from this book what resonates with you and leave the rest. So that's what I'll do!
I already live my life following the law of attraction (LOA) and so a lot of this wasn't new information to me. I'm a reader of Meg's fiction and I know she and Jake live "uncommon" lives (as they mention) and this was really the reason for my purchase. I was interested in how they apply LOA to their lives and figured they would provide their life experiences in a no nonsense way. I did learn a few things and have added a few other books to my reading list. I also have a few different passages highlighted.
This book helped me in a time in my life that I truly needed it!! Whether you’re needing healing or struggling emotionally, or even spiritually. Whether you’re seeking advice on life, mindset, how to succeed in biz, health… I believe everyone will be able to take something away from this book no matter what you’re going through or wanting out of life.
I’m at that age where I gave up on self help books. However I’m a huge fan of this author so I decided to give it a try and I’m glad I did. Insightful and inspiring, this book was written in such a way that it was it was easy to read and relatable. There’s a little bit of everything to help you see a different perspective.
Such wise and life changing information in one book! The section on forgiveness was the one that resonated most strongly for me but so many other chapters were filled with amazing advice! I have never highlighted as much information in any book as this one. If you are ready to make major changes in your life-taking whatever size steps you need to-read this book today!
To get advice from an author you admire on how she does what she does is indescribable! Meggan's wisdom on this topic makes you feel like you're getting one-on-one help writing your first book. Having been a Meghan March fan for years made it an absolute no brainer when it came to purchasing this book. I feel more confident on how to approach my writing and am ready to make Meggan proud!
