After completing his first year at the Tempest School, Zephyr ventures into the realms protected by the Phoenix Knights. There, he will learn Inferno magic and delve deeper into the mystery of his origins. Joined by Nella and Vincent, he will discover what it truly means to be Caruthas reborn.
Very short book. Definitely not worth the money. Book #2 has the group go learn inferno magic as the title suggest and it feels like the group spent maybe 2 weeks to becomes top mages of inferno magic.
The book has all the weakness of typical litRPG. Incredible overpowered MCs that has stereotypical personality. support characters that behave like videogame NPCs with zero character development and one dimensional, cliche.
The story is as rich as most MMORPG, which is to say there is basically no real story. The twist in this book could be seen from Book #1. The entire book reads like you are playing an MMORPG and wanting to just skip cutscene and go to the fights. Because, if anything, that is one thing DB King is decent at writing - combat scenes.
The continuity of the story is so bland and linear I felt you could easily read Book #2 before Book #1 and you really wouldn't be missing anything at all.
The audiobook quality is poor. Narrator is so inconsistent with voices for the characters.
I was disappointed with this book - it had some serious need of editing. We had characters repeating the same conversations multiple times, Zephyr spoke to Master Sora at least twice, about Master Stalwart with Sora being shocked both times. There were multiple instances where words were missing, or sentences ended abruptly before finishing a thought.
On top of that, none of the three are unintelligent, and yet, they all act surprised that the Shadowspawn calling them Sacred One might actually have a meaning. And while there were only occasional clues to duplicity in the first book, this book has several blatant accusations, by multiple characters, of the Liar, and yet no one picks up on it? It just isn’t reasonable to see Zeph, Vincent, and Nella react so blandly if they suspect the Liar of orchestrating so much death, evil, and betrayal as they’ve seen in the past year alone.
The three heros overcame the first trial, now they are off to the fire school to learn more about fire magic and stop the scourge of Tyrant magic threatening to take over the world.
I thought this was better than the first book. There is a mystery unfolding that gives hints about who to trust, and what the origin of the three actually is, as well as the continued problem of someone working in the back ground to sabotage everything.
I started reading this on my day of and stayed up way too late to finish it. The book is excellent and I am glad the next one isn't out yet so that I can get some sleep. Although, I can't wait for the next book.😁
This was packed with adventure, the trio was able to kick ass again. I am wondering who is lying to whom, some crazy theories abound. Next book hopefully get some more answers, and of course more ass kicking from the power trio.
I can't wait to see what happens next in this amazing world the author has invented for us!!! As always exciting adventures, dynamic magic and first rate characters and character interactions!!!
(Heard this on audible) The books in this series become better and better as time goes by. Loved hearing all the nitty/gritty details in this book. I'm looking forward to the next one when it does come out. Also, that was one hell of an ending for sure. Fantastic job!
