Reviewed by Jennifer Ibiam for Readers' Favorite® - April 7, 2022 Eight inches of snow fell on the Callahan Farm overnight. Rosie the truck wanted to play with her friends in it. Unfortunately, they expected a storm the following night, and Farmer Jack enlisted the help of everyone to prepare for it. Rosie wasn’t happy, but she helped. Later, while they were playing, Mayor Hope sent for Rosie to help bring in four reindeer trapped on a stranded train. The reindeer were on an urgent mission but couldn’t brave the incoming storm. If the mission failed, many children would be sad. Would Rosie agree to help get the reindeer out of danger to a shelter? Would the storm stop the reindeer from their task? Find out in Rosie the Farm Truck by Victoria Scudder, illustrated by Kam Bayo.

Rosie the Farm Truck by Victoria Scudder is a perfect Christmas children’s story. However, the lessons in this picture book remain evergreen. It is a tale of kindness, teamwork, love, resourcefulness, courage, and healthy doses of confidence. I loved the beautiful illustrations and attractive choice of colors by Kam Bayo. The simple grammar and punchy sentences were catchy and easy to understand. Scudder awakened my imagination by creating living characters out of everything in the environment which I’m sure will excite children. Above all, this book reminds us never to second guess ourselves, as Rosie did. We must opt for a circle of people who would do everything to help us succeed, as we can only receive the energy we give. When we show up for people in difficult situations, we unlock another level of our own strength and uniqueness.

What a creative fun story of a pickup truck, Rosie.

For one, I thought that Farmer Jack encouraged Rosie that he felt sure she would do a tremendous job in teaching these four reindeers of Santa how to read and write so they could be a big help to Santa on Christmas Eve...
This book I'd recommend for those who are animal lovers and how Rosie had the other animals work as a team to teach and encourage these reindeer. She, Rosie used team work to help these reindeer what they would need to know to help Santa on Christmas Eve. All of the details written above are my reason for offering five stars for such a book as this. Super work Victoria. I am also a Childrens author and illustrator myself. Animals have been my principle characters as well. -Sunny Light's my author's pen name.

Rosie is precious!

Rosie is precious with her big eyes and long lashes! She is also playful, helpful and kind. She wants to play with the farm animals but is called off for a mission. Through teamwork and trust in herself she accomplishes her goal. The hand-painted watercolor illustrations are a perfect accompaniment to the story.

Lovely story

I liked that it wasn’t the expected farm story. The main lesson is about taking care of others, be confident and self worth.
The illustrations are very cute. The only downside is that some dialogues overlaps with colors that make them difficult to read.
I would recommended for kids that are starting to learn how to read.

I love the unique illustrations and the color scheme used throughout the story. I thought it was interesting that the truck taught the reindeer how to read so they could help Santa deliver presents. This is such a cute story!

Rosie, the Farm Truck, is a fun-filled story. The story works great for a child to read to themselves or for an adult to read to them. The story and artwork go well together.
