Dean made it clear that he’s done playing games. If Theo doesn’t join him, he will hunt Theo and his pack down. Using any means necessary.
Meanwhile, Silas finds it difficult to keep werewolves a secret from the rest of his friends. Especially since Sarah seems to have noticed that Jack and him are acting strange.
The pack would be stronger with more people. They might stand a chance against Dean. But does Silas really want to drag his friends into something so dangerous?
People Long for the Sun is the thrilling conclusion to the Hepdale Rain trilogy!
Bought all three books at the Dutch comic con just a short while ago (because... werewolves and romance!) Was I glad that I did! Once I started reading I couldn't put them down. I loved the characters (Jack and Augustus are my fav! Love them so much!) I loved the story too and now I'm sad that it's over. I'm so recommending this series if you want a good werewolf romance with some action packed pages and humor.
Yes yes yes! The pace of this book is a bit slower then the first two books, but I didn’t mind cause Cindy really took the time to develop the characters and their bonds 😍 It almost made me feel like part of the pack. I took my my time inhaling every sentence, I didn’t wanna rush finishing this book. Gosh, I really wish for more (short) stories about the pack, for example their holiday to the mountains. I just don’t want to say goodbye yet 🥺
OMG this was just amazing!! Last year I was soo shocked by the ending of book 2 and it killed me to have to wait almost a year to finally read the next part of the story.
But ooh boy, what was the wait worth it! This last part of the series is just soo beautifully written, with just the right amount of peaceful and fearful moments. I loved reading how the pack slowly grows into this beautifully composed family in which everyone is accepted and loved unconditionally. Next to this, my heart melted from all the cute queer scenes and the mate elements.
THANK YOU Cindy! Thank you for giving these amazing characters an ending they deserve and an ending that does them justice for the full 1000%
Can't wait to hear what great story you will bring us next <3
I think the focus in the book was more about the pack coming together, forming bonds and character development than on the plot itself. But personally I didn't mind that one bit!! The characters are soo original and lovable and through every twist and turn I was rooting for them. I'll probably read the books again just to interact with them a little more
A thrilling and satisfying ending to the Hepdale Rain series. It all comes full circle. There are tense action scenes and heartwarming pack bonding times, lovely romance and comedic moments. The whole set of characters is so interesting and they all have different but tight and special bonds to each other. Jack and Augustus were my favorite couple but seeing Silas and Theos relationship blossom and develop even more was equally wonderful to read about. The individual and unique struggles of the characters are well balanced with the larger plot of the pack against the overarching threat. It never felt boring or rushed! Thinking back to book one it is amazing how far this story has come and I am very happy to have been part of the journey. Cindy Paul truly has a bright future as an author before her.
Where do I start? This book (and this whole books series to be completely honest), is something special. I can’t actually find the right words. All I can say is that I care so much for the characters and that I feel incredibly lucky and honored to have gotten to know them and their stories.
I like the diversity of the characters. It feels like all of them have their own journey and character arcs. Still they are connected in a beautiful way. Their expression of emotions makes it easy to relate to them, at least understand where they are coming from.
About the writing. The writing in this books is extremely good. I’d say it’s one of the things that makes the story feel real and that you’re seeing everything that happens with your own eyes. English is not my native language so I can’t say anything about the grammar, but what I can say is that it is poetic and makes you feel something. During the reading I realized that when Silas felt embarrassed I sort of felt a little embarrassed myself. And when Sarah was happy, I was too. When Jack was hurt, i hurt too. Like I was part of the bond?! Maybe we connected so much, that I became a part of the bond as well haha. No but seriously that is just amazing, that the writer made me as a reader experience all of these kinds of emotions.
The story is thrilling and filled with love and adventure. The details, the pieces of information and the dialogue in the story is (according to me) well thought out. And the chemistry and the dynamics between characters is ❤️🔥.
Before I end this review, I want to say thank you for writing these books. I have loved them. I do love them. And surely I’ll go back and re-read the trilogy soon 🙏
There are no words to describe the emotional turmoil I’ve experienced reading “People long for the Sun.”
After a cliffhanger that’s been truly evil, Paul went on and wrote a masterpiece. The series was everything I ever wanted. Heartwarming and suspenseful, the series had it all. The perfect ending for the series, this book was no exception to Paul’s artful writing.
Silas and Theo’s incredibly sweet relationship was taken to a new level. I loved how both experiences growth here, with Silas gaining confidence and Theo finally listening to his pack’s wishes and needs.
Jack and Augustus’ relationship is something else. They’re by far my favourite of the pack. I was so excited for them to finally get their acts together and start communicating. Absolutely perfect!
Then there’s Sarah and her mate. Let’s say, I wished they had more time to develop their romance. While it felt a bit rushed, I loved the way they communicated. 10/10 for their communication skills. Much better than the rest of the pack (except Hazel of course).
This book deserves everything. This series needs to be included on every reader’s shelf.
Thank you, Cindy Paul for this masterpiece. I’m looking forward to your future books.
... lemme just copy + paste my thoughts from a little over a year ago, when i first read this:
angst? check. feels? check. incredible narration? check. characters that feel so alive you could just reach out and hug them? double check. accompanied by impressively crafted dialogue and great rep and have i mentioned incredible characters that quickly made home in my heart? yeah. i’m impressed with how often i ended up literally chuckling out loud. this made me feel alive in these terrible times and that says a lot
the only thing i have to add today is that despite the squeal-worthy scenes this book gave me and the comfort of returning to a story that gives u pure joy, the second book in the trilogy still takes the cake for me because, well, jack :')
Notice that it's a spoiler-free review so you can read it calmly . ㅤ I loved People long for the sun, it's the finishing touch that this trilogy deserved. ㅤ The story picks up from where it left off in People Need a Storm, and though spirits are a bit low at first, no one gives up and they fight to the end to protect what they hold dearest. As in the previous two books, it is a story that focuses above all on its characters and the relationships that unite them. And honestly, it's what I like the most about this trilogy. In this book, there are relationships that grow, and more people join the pack. As for the plot, I think that in the end it's resolved too quickly, but as I told you before, I am delighted with the result because from the first moment I fell in love quickly with the characters. ㅤ And speaking of the characters, Jack is still my favorite, but in People long for the sun, Sarah appears as a new main character, with her own point of view in the chapters, she becomes one of the pillars of the team, and more is revealed about her friends and family, her personal life. ㅤ Today is Christmas, and it's a good day to recommend the Hepdale Rain series, and ask you to give it a try. They are very entertaining books, with characters who, beyond the paranormal theme, suffer from problems like all of us, so you can empathize with them in some way 🥹 ㅤ Thanks again to Cindy for sending me this book, and the first one, The Hepdale Rain series is now one of my favourites, so special, and it'll be in my heart forever. A must reread every year.

4,5/5 estrellas
Es una reseña libre de spoilers así que podéis leerla tranquilamente. ㅤ People long for the sun me ha encantado, es el broche final que merecía esta trilogía. ㅤ
I raced through this book! I love the characters and the writing style so much, so it was really easy to just keep reading and reading and reading until I'd made it through the whole book! I loved all the characters, with Jack, Augustus, Sarah and Hazel definitely being my favourites.
I'd say the only thing that makes this 4 stars instead of 5 for me was that I did miss a certain sense of urgency in the characters regarding stuff happening related to the plot. To name an example: Generally, while the situation itself was very serious, it didn't feel like the characters took it that seriously at all. Having said that, the more lighthearted scenes such as the concert they went to together and the pack sleepovers and the like were by far my favourite scenes. So I can't say I'm complaining about the general soft vibes this book had. I just think the balance between dramatic and urgent plot points and more lighthearted 'filler' scenes could have been better.
I can forgive that, though, since I still prefer a book to be too soft over a book being too angsty and dramatic. And this book delivered on being soft! The found family vibes were amazing, I loved seeing the pack come together and all the characters bonding with one another. I loved that, despite romance being a big theme in this series, there was still enough attention paid to friendships and platonic love. And Sarah and Jack's friendship as a whole. All in all, perhaps one of the best executions of found family I've seen in fiction and I'm a fan!
Overall I enjoyed reading this series. I liked the characters, and the friendship between them played a big part, especially since some of them didn’t have the best relationship with their parents.
The books are very readable, I finished the whole trilogy within a week.
There are few things that could have been done differently:
- The stakes never felt high, and the villains suck. That was connected to the “special power” that Theo has - basically making everyone obey him with his voice. This power came to play only twice in the book, and it honestly didn’t make much sense, because he basically could told the villains to run away long before anything happened. The whole ending was really anticlimatic.
- The wordbuilding: it was never really explained what powers the werewolves have in this universe, except for shifting into wolves.
- The HP references: OH. MY. GOD. They made me so angry. I was so happy, when in the first book Jack said, that he doesn’t support that franchise anymore. Guess what? In second book from Silas POV, they watch HP, because he knows it’ll make Jack feel better. So are we supporting it or not? Hp references don’t belong in queer books, especially when you’re trying to create an inclusive space, and it sends a really bad message, when you’re using a piece of media created by a transphobic trash.
- It kind of feels like a mash up of Teen Wolf fanfic with a lot of Twilight references. Honestly, at some point I just started to call Silas Stiles, and I couldn’t be bothered to correct myself anymore, so be prepared for that.
I would still recommend this series, my overall rating is 3.5*. There were just some thing that could have been done differently to make it better.

AAAHHHH, I LOVE IT I have now read the entire series, and I want/need a sequel that is like them going on vacation with the whole pack. That would be so cute and cool. But also all the ships in this series are so cute. Especially Jamie and Sarah, enemies to lovers is always amazing<3 You just notice that Jack and Augustus would become a Couple and it's so cute. Jack deserves something good in his life and he got it! Also getting to know Theo and Silas more is the cutest. The girl nights with Sarah, Hazel and Jamie(probably Megan too) are amazing to read! If I could I would give it more that 5 stars!! This book just has the right aspects of cute stuff but also sad stuff. I love it!

Wonderful and happy series - this book had me laughing out loud and tensing up during the fight scenes. All of the characters were lovable and there was so much LGBTQ representation here ❤️
