pretty good overview and context of the expulsion and conversion in 1496/7! does a really job of explaining and providing quotes, also brings up multiple arguments from other historians + his own to give you a wide scope of the possible motivations for king manuel i’s decision.

If you're a fan of 15th and 16th century Portugal(and why wouldn't you be?), you will find this a most interesting study.
