My name is Deborah Williamson Rine. I grew up in Illinois, New York and Washington D.C. I was fortunate to spend a year in France when fifteen and a year in Göteborg, Sweden following high school. After Northwestern University, I lived in Milan, Verona, Paris and Brussels. These experiences created a love of different cultures, people and food. “Life is a smorgasbord and I want to sample it all.” I was a French teacher for many years. The Lake is my first book. I don’t know why I waited so long to start writing because it’s a delectable challenge. I love diving into the story and seeing what happens!
Easily the weakest book of the series. The plot is stretched thin, trying to create a story out of an intriguing scientific concept. It feels like trying to stuff a round peg into a square hole, though. There are some decent concepts, but maybe this wasn't the right series for them. Still, the writing is good, and the setting is once again in Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast. I'm pretty sure I can lead you straight to the back road where the fictional lab is located. Bottom line? This is a three and a half star book, rounded up to four because I'm craving some fresh Gulf seafood thanks to these books.
This book was a big letdown. I hated how Claire made fun of and looked down on her sister. The twin angle was so far fetched. Also, you saw the twist and “bad guys” from a mile away. I am usually a huge fan of Rine’s books, but this one was disappointing. On top of this, there are several grammatical errors and still an editing footnote in the book.
Loved the nods to biology and LFHS as a graduate and now biologist! Such an easy summer read as always and just as amazing as her other books! I'm so glad this book came out just in time to be my birthday present!
I couldn’t put down until I finished it! I really enjoyed the book. I frequent 30a and felt so immersed in the book as if I was a character! Thoroughly enjoyed!
Easy summer beach read 😎 even in the spring, while its snowing here 🌨 would love to go check out this area, enjoyed reading this book, and would recommend!
