This is a beautifully written and illustrated set of devotions designed for the month of December. The first (and main section) looks at advent from the perspective of struggle and suffering. As a result, the pages drip with grace, and help re-orientate us to see Christmas as a time of comfort. The last week looks at the in-between time of Christmas/New Year and is full of challenges and encouragements.

I’m so happy Philippa wrote an Advent Devotional Book. I loved her other devotional book and this one was as good or even better. Her reflections are so profound and Bible based but at the same time she’s so practical and encouraging. My favorite part was that the last few days didn’t focus on Christmas but on New Year’s. Great material to celebrate Christmas and finish your year Christ-centered and with the truth of the Gospel in mind.

A fine devotional for every day in December, written with the verve of a preacher and the care of a poet.
