This book is a fun collection of folk tales and legends. I picked it up as a heard the story about Becky Winter oraly a few years ago at an event at the british library and I've been trying to track it down since so, from that perspective, it was satisfying to have this book (though the writen tale wasn't a patch on the spoken version. A lot of these stories are fun and interesting but the book uses a lot of local dialect words or technicaly words with no sense of what those words mean which makes some of these stories hard to understand for anyone now seeped in them. It also switches between a highly formal register, a semi-formal and ocasionally transcribed speech. This transcribed, colloquial speech can be quite hard to understand.
