Melissa grew up in a creative and imaginative home in Karlsruhe, ND. She spent her days playing outdoors on the farm, where her imagination led her to write endless stories. Her nights were spent hidden beneath her covers, well after bedtime, reading her book by way of flashlight. She now resides in Lincoln, ND with her husband and their two children.
Melissa draws inspiration from her two children as well as her spirited and mischievous childhood days on the farm. She loves writing about being the best you that you can be and finding the magic in the everyday. When not writing, you will find her chasing after her children, sipping a hot chocolate while cheering in the hockey rink, and enjoying the outdoors.
It's Great to be Me By Melissa Ahonen This book shows different children from various walks of life stating positive affirmations about themselves. When I was growing up if some kid said some of these affirmations in the school yard, a wise guy would say ,"Is that so?" Then everyone would laugh! Probably belt him with stones. I am glad times are changing!😂
IT'S GREAT TO BE ME: DAILY AFFIRMATIONS FOR CHILDREN by Melissa Ahonen is a children's story book with a different 'daily' affirmation looking at bravery, strength, uniqueness, talent, kindness and gratefulness.
Told in AABB rhyme scheme with colorful images, IT' GREAT TO BE ME is suitable for an older child, perhaps 6+, due to the wording e.g. challenges, bravery, strength, unique, talent, kindness and gratefulness....a wonderful introduction to a child's positivity and self esteem
