Stranger in the night ... "Leo sent me" The cryptic words uttered by the rain-soaked stranger on her doorstep sent fear racing through Kathryn Randolph. Her uncle Leo had been dead for a month, so who was this man who'd appeared out of the night - with a gunshot wound in his shoulder? Connor Hawke realized he had no right to involve an innocent woman in his perilous business, but after his narrow escape from death, Katie seemed like his only hope. How could he have predicted she would ultimately prove more dangerous than even the most hazardous case? Still, Connor knew who - and what - he was. As soon as his mission was completed wouldn't he disappear from Katie's life - forever?
This one was all a bit laughable in the way it handled espionage, intelligence agents and the KGB. The hero lands injured at heroine's door and just tells her her dad uncle's name. Heroine loved her uncle but always thought he led a shady life. Of course he was a super secret agent just like the hero is. Everyone in this book seemed majorly incompetent. Then we have the heroine acting all like Mrs Smith. Don't even get me started on the heroine falling for the hero so quickly without really knowing him. If the fate of a country was in the hands of these two, everyone would be toast.
