Susan and Jacob Browder wrote their book, "The Bull Didn'tWin," from their perspectives. You will get to know the mom, Susan, as she lets you see her son's injury and recovery through her eyes. You will learn so much about Jacob, the young man who suffered a traumatic brain injury at a bull riding school, as he takes you on the toughest ride of his life. This mom and son will leave you with an inspiring story that will motivate you to get through the hardest times. Susan only tells Parts of the book as Jacob is in a coma fighting for his life.
This book is so inspiring! I could not put it down! Being a mom, I cannot imagine going through the devastating trial that this family faced, and they did so with such enormous faith in God. The book is written from the viewpoints of both Jacob and his mother. They kept God the center of this long journey of restoring Jacob to health after a traumatic brain injury, and they give words of encouragement for readers to look to God in all circumstances. A must read!!!
In this raw and honest story, Jacob and Susan have led us through their emotional journey, and what shines forth is their growing faith and utter reliance and trust in an omnipotent and powerful God. This book is truly their testimony to the world. Jacob is now living his life “full-on” for Christ and is a witness to the power and glory of God. I always knew Jacob Browder was destined for great things, and there is no greater calling or purpose in this life than proclaiming the name of Jesus to the world. The Bull definitely did not win!
Once I read the first page of this book, I couldn’t put it down. What an inspiration you are Jacob, and God has bigger and better plans for you. No, the bull didn’t win.
The Bull Didn’t Win is a true description of the twists and turns life can take and the effect it has on, not only, the person involved, but the entire family. As someone who experienced a traumatic experience with my own son, I could completely relate to the joys and pains, as well as the miracles God performs on a daily basis. I highly recommend everyone to read this book as it will inspire you to look for the positives in life, how to face your own struggles, and it will reveal how God is with you always, even when you feel alone.
What a wonderfully book of faith and courage. I know the family from church, even thoughI I personally watched the miracle unfold weekly I could not put it down. It gave me hope to face my bull of grief. To know that God is there for me too Loved it. Thanks for sharing you story.
I started reading it one night around 9:30 pm and finished around 12:30 am. I could not put it down until I finished. It was amazing. I really enjoyed the alternating point of views between Susan and Jacob. Susan - the loving mother who was torn between letting her son do something he was so passionate about and also trying to be protective as a mother. Jacob - the son who was so adventurous who was always drawn to rodeo as a kid.
There were several things that I am sure were hard to share. I was blown away with both of your writing.
Worship was better this past Sunday morning because the book was such a faith builder. The prayer of faith (James 5:13) is powerful and God receives all the glory. The Holy Spirit is so powerful, and HE was and still is glorified through Susan's and Jacob’s testimony. God is good, all the time. The same yesterday, today, and forever. His story reminds me of the story of Lazarus: It reminds me of Mary and Martha, who were upset with Jesus for not coming sooner in regard to Lazarus. Susan had the ‘Mary and Martha’ role in Jacob’s story. Why… it Is such a small word for us, but with such huge meaning.
John 11:4 tells us “When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” Jacob’s journey continues to glorify God. Christ tells them “Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” That verse relates to Jacob's family and friends. So many believed, and HE (The Great I AM) was glorified.
I am so thankful that Susan never took no for an answer. She never compromised and still doesn’t. The book taught me how important the role of a praying parent is.
I also realized that I noticed a lot of similarities of being the caregiver. My wife struggled with ulcerative colitis and had to have her colon removed. She eventually had a j-pouch restorative surgery that was a long process over several surgeries. I wished that I would have kept a journal as Susan did for all the prayers that were answered. Knowing how close I came to losing her, I am constantly reminded how fragile life is. Reading the book was therapeutic for me, and I think that I should try to write down my wife's story. It has now become part of my testimony, which continues to glorify God.
I am so thankful that the “bull didn’t win”. The smile on his face on the book cover says it all!
The Bull Didn't Win by Jacob and Susan Browder provides the reader with a personal perspective on the power of God and His faithfulness to answer prayers. It not only gives the testimony of a young man who overcame numerous setbacks and struggles; it also shows the power of a faithful mother who had no choice but to trust in God.
Having known the Browders, I thought I knew their story. However, after reading the book, I realized I only knew a portion. The Bull Didn't Win drew me closer to the family by helping me to understand the struggles Jacob's injury caused.
This book helps people who know the family, and it also will help believers strengthen their relationship with God and deepen their Christian walk.
I had the pleasure of briefly meeting Jacob while he was in the hospital, and I witnessed not only his perseverance, but his precious mother’s determination and strong faith. Watching their journey unfold over the years through Susan’s posts on social media, and now reading their testimony in this book, has strengthened my own faith. I’ve known Susan since we were teenagers, and to say I am proud of her would be an understatement. As clearly revealed through her words, she relied completely on the Lord to guide her steps, and she modeled this for Jacob, who now has an unshakable faith and a powerful testimony. I highly recommend this book, and I plan to purchase several copies to give to others who are facing or are in the middle of monumental valleys.
This book is gripping! I mean I was hanging on every word just as I was there in the arena, and with Susan and Nicky in the hospital! Joyful laughs and joyful tears awaits anyone who reads The Bull Didn't Win! I am a friend of the family, so my ties run deeper than most, but as a pastor and mentor, I will be encouraging other pastors, rodeo chaplains or youth ministers to invite Jacob and Susan to speak at your church or rodeo! Jacob's story is beyond encouraging to anyone who experiences any of lives challenges! He never quits, and now he and Susan are sharing their incredible story of God's restoration!
Such a great story of hard work, overcoming obstacles, and faith in God to get them through! Inspiring and encouraging! You don’t want to miss reading Jacob‘s powerful story! I had not planned to read it all in one day, but I couldn’t put it down. My mama heart cried so many times hearing the pain that he and his family have gone through. Rejoicing with Jacob for all God has done and will continue to do through him. I didn’t know Jacob at the time of his accident, but since then I’ve grown to love this kind hearted, determined, strong young man who gives God all the praise. You will not regret reading his story.
I devoured this book within hours. I could not put it down. From tragedy to triumph, Jacob has an unbelievable story of courage, perseverance, and the determination to not only live but to thrive! This book is unique as it gives you both the perspectives of Jacob and his mother, who fought fiercely and trusted God fully to bring her son back. This book is an inspiration for all of us to never let the bulls in our own lives win. I'm excited to see all the ways Jacob and his family will reach multitudes with this testimony. The future is bright for Jacob, and this is just the beginning!
The Bull Didn't Win is a testimony to God's miraculous workings in tragic human circumstances. The way Jacob and Susan have so openly and honestly laid bare their souls into sharing their unique perspectives of the unthinkable event that changed their lives, help us, as readers, actually experience their pain and triumph in very real ways. This book takes you through the gamut of emotional upheaval and brings you to a place of hope, gratitude, greater faith, and healing. The lessons learned as these two pour out their hearts in the pages of this all inspiring book make The Bull Didn't Win a must read for everyone. To God be the Glory!
I couldn’t put this book down! Our God is the God of RESTORATION. What an incredible few hours it was to step in to Mrs. Susan and Jacob’s shoes and taste the hard moments, the hopeful moments, and the victorious moments. I walk away encouraged in my faith. I know your book is going to encourage so many others to persevere through trials and to keep trusting in the Lord no matter how difficult the circumstance may be.
The Bull Didn’t Win was a very inspirational journey . Reading this book brought laughter and tears but most of all it made me want to be a better person . It made me want to rely on my faith and never give up. Susan and Jacob did a remarkable job writing this book. I highly recommend it.
This family truly shows how God has blessed them and supported them thru this journey. I completely recommend this book for anyone who is struggling in life. Good job
A great story of faith, courage against tremendous obstacles. Jacob is a walking miracle. Giving our Lord and Saviour all the glory. A mom that takes you through every emotion imaginable, that moves mountains for her son. Couldn't stop reading. GREAT BOOK
Such a powerful story of faith and healing. I have been praying for Jacob from the beginning and now I'm reading his amazing story of resilience, restoration and love of God!
Enjoyed this so much! As a parent of one of Ms. Browder's students I can attest that she lives by her faith. We are blessed to have had her as part of our lives.
If you are feeling like you can’t beat the odds, you need to read this book! A story of inspiration, love, determination and faith! You will find yourself not wanting to put it down!
This was an inspirational book how one young man and his family turned their life over completely to the Lord...trusting Him alone to heal, strengthen and make new again. One of my favorite quotes in the book is "Whatever you are facing today, make a plan, and make sure God is dead center" - Jacob Browder. Susan (Jacob's mom) shared her intimate battle with control and mothering and how in the end it is up to God Almighty to steer our paths and guide us. Her unwavering faith is astounding and I love how she (and Jacob) give God all the glory for His mighty hand through it all...from the accident to the placement of his medical team to family and friends - God was ever present. Great read!
I finished this book in one day!! What an inspiration this family is!! Don’t give up - let God provide a way, determination and lots of love and faith!! This family has portrayed that and more!!
