Allie Grecco Mystery Series #2

Justice for the Missing Students

Rate this book
They kidnapped the wrong girl. Now they’d better run and hide…

Allie Grecco is still living a double life. Thoughtful friend, office drone, and girly college student by day, she becomes New York’s deadliest hunter by night, tracking down scumbags too slippery for the law.

Even a lone wolf needs a pack, and for the first time in a long while, loner Allie has finally found a pack that appreciates her for who she is. Her new ex-military comrades—especially her boss at Soldiers for Hire—know she’s a born hunter. And she’s hungry for her next prey.

Missing students from all over town are resurfacing beaten down, broken, or dead. The only one who shows the slightest interest is a college mental health counselor—until she’s murdered outside her home. When it’s clear the cops aren’t going to find the shooter, Allie’s instructed to look into the case from the shadows of the back-end operation.

A university’s perfect façade begins to crumble as the search for truth unearths more questions than answers. Allie fights through the web of lies and deception… only to discover there’s a target on her back, too.

One thing is clear: If she doesn’t get to the bottom of it, another girl will die.

Fighting Through the Pain is book two of Katy Pierce’s Allie Grecco series. A blood-tingling story of one woman's mission to serve justice—vigilante-style.

Fighting Through the Pain is the second installment in the Allie Grecco series by Katy Pierce. I'm really liking this author.

Allie Greco is a very troubled veteran haunted by nightmares of murder and dissapointment in her fellow brother's- in-arms.  Shes a complex character with human flaws working for Soldiers for Hire, a firm created to help veterans assimilate into society.

The cases that Soldiers For Hire Back-End take on are cases that the police ask for help with. The SFH has been asked to help on a dead-end case. College students are missing and there are rumors of sex for grades from a professor.  Are the rumors true? Are the two issues connected some how?

Allie has been given one more chance to prove herself capable of doing “Back-End” work. If she can't pass her trial will she turn back to vigilante work?

This is turning into a great series about PTSD veterans beginning over and learning how to control their demons. You'll be eagerly waiting for the next installment in this series!

I did receive a copy from the author and this is my honest and freely given review.

Allie Grecco is a most unusual heroine. A vigilante that wants to catch and punish those who have tormented and even killed Women.
The second book in this series is simply WOW! Katy Pierce has written a thriller. Her characters are so real to me and I love what she has created.
Allie has always been a loner but now she finds comrades at Soldiers For Hire.
The cases that SFH take on are cases that the police have handed over to them to solve.
Allie wants to become an operative with this elite group. Before she can she is given a new case…the second part of her test.
Students have gone missing and when they are found they are beaten down or dead. Allie with her mentor, Phoenix, set out to solve this case. She is a loose cannon and needs to get herself under control if she wants to become an operative. Can she do this and solve this case? This is a must read to see if she can.
I flew through this book. It is absolutely riveting and like the first book quite the cliffhanger at the end. Cannot wait for this series to continue.

I am in love with the writing of Katy Pierce.
Every book I have read of Katy Pierce's has been a breathless, page turning, hurry find the answer to this mystery and how do all the puzzle pieces fit together to solve it.
Allie Grecco Series has a definite place on my Book shelf.
In Allie's angry, clue finding stumbling way, trying to find her place in the Back Operation, so she can stop her vigilante ways in the dark of night. She has been offered a place in the daily operation of helping find the answers to the crimes people have committed with help from Daniel (the boss) and his sources. To be able to bring people to justice.
I was a captive of Allie's story from the first book and will continue to be.
You will love this series as much as I do. It's a fresh, new or different way a mystery book has been written in years.

I received this ARC from the Author. I will gladly read all of her books.

Allie Grecco serves justice where the police can’t through Soldiers For Hire. She and Phoenix are investigating kidnaping and raping college girls. Everything points to a professor who exchanges sex for grades. Everything she does is under scrutiny as she’s still being tested to become a permanent member of the team. She’s trying to figure out what a kidnaped student and the murder of a staff member of the same university have in common. There are several suspects. She’s hoping to be able to find the student alive. Time is counting down fast. Will she be able to solve the case in time? To many of those interviewed are lying, or leaving out important evidence. An exciting book that keeps you guessing what’s going on, and who is responsible. So looking forward to the next book. Looks Allie is even in deeper trouble.

Allie is tenacious!

Daniel gives Allie another case to solve which will determine whether or not she will be allowed to join his group. Allie and Phoenix set out to find a missing student along with trying to find out what happened to students who went missing but were released later.

Allie must determine whether or not more than one person is responsible for the students missing. It like you take a road then realize you made the wrong turn so you get your map out to find the correct way to go.

Do Allie and Phoenix find the missing student in time? Is there more then one person responsible for the missing students? Does Daniel approve of Allie joining his group of operators? Read the book to find out.

A great series and the second book was fantastic. All the characters had more growth and their relationships, quirks and general dynamics were more developed. I thought there was a good blend of solving the case and the personal. I still wonder when:if Phoenix is going to have a back story that harms the team or Daniel. Libby had more time and she showed some great sass and emotion for that part of Allies masks and routines. Daniel was who threw me this book as I thought he was making strides with personal connection, specifically Allie, but that ending blew that to smithereens. I like Daniel and Allie and do hope some relationship evolves there. Fast paced and non stop with school, crime and relationships I enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the next book!

WOW! Allie has to pass one more test to be part of the back end and she’s learning more and more about others and how to do the job that’s expected of her.
I want to read more so I can find out what happened when she was a child and also find out why her military teammates turned against her. It’s all so very interesting.

The 2nd book in the Allie Grecco will leave who’s breathless as Allie tries to find out who’s kidnapping college girls, holding them for a couple of weeks and then releasing them still drugged up. Now the wrong one has been kidnapped and it’s a rough ride to find the culprit(s). Another excellent book

Well this was such a great gripping read. I just devoured it in one afternoon. I was kept guessing what was going to happen but loved how it ended absolutely perfect. Then we got more back story into Daniel and then more glimpses into Libby. The ultimate ending just set it up for book 3 and was perfect.

I was given an advance copy by the author but the review is entirely my own.

This is the second Allie Greco book in the series and again Katy has done a fabulous job. We see Allie on her second case, which had me second guessing a lot, with lots of twists and turns with various characters/suspects. Allie and Daniel(Boss) open up a bit too each other revealing more around their backgrounds but definitely the ending left me in suspense 🤭

Unexpected

Well paced, late night page turner. Allie's gotten in to a positive mental vibe. Things are going well for her. Then... Didn't see that twist coming at the end. Excellent "shatter". Can't wait for the next installment. Looking forward to it. Thank you Katy for sharing your people.

A fantastic story

This second book in the Allie Grecco story is so exciting! I couldn't guess where it was leading, but the whole story really did lead to the outcome. There were more teasers about Allie's past as well as Daniel's. We'll worth the read.

After reading Ruined Beyond Repair, this book was a disappointment. Aside from grammar, punctuation, and usage errors the author also used the wrong character's name in a few instances, during dialogue. The slow pace of the plot did not help either.

Katy Pierce has created a heroine to root for. Grecco is a military veteran who is suffering from PTSD. She has inner demons, and it is not just the rape that happened in the military. Grecco’s PTSD is layered which makes her character’s responses interesting.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
