Shaen Layle is a wonderful new cozy mystery author. I have read each of her books so far and no disappointment. She builds her characters and storylines in ways that make the reader want to turn the pages. I love how she is able to continue the story in a series of books written by different authors. Honeybees & Legacies by Shaen Layle is an interesting Savannah Secrets mystery. Meredith Bellefontaine and Julia foley of Magnolia Investigations are hired to see who is vandalizing Nikki Williams’ honey business.
The author provides complexity in this novel by adding historical familial significance to the mystery. Reputations are at stake. Friendships are in jeopardy.
Then we add the personal: Meredith is worried about the sustainability of Magnolia Investigations because of a lack of clients. Her grandson is being bullied. And her gentleman friend Quin’s daughter’s health is in question.
Clues and red herrings don’t seem to add up. But like any good cozy, everything gets tied up at the end. If you’re looking for a good cozy with Christian themes, then Honeybees & Legacies by Shaen Layle is the story for you.
