I really had trouble getting into this one. It wasn’t so much the story, more the writing that didn’t work for me. It took me ages to figure out what it is all about with the brass knuckle bastards and the first chapter from Declan’s POV was so confusing. We were just thrown into the scene without knowing anything about what happened with Leah. I guess it was supposed to spark my interest with a mystery, but it just confused the hell outta me. Sorry. I liked Sylvia, but I couldn’t connect with Decan at all. Other people seem to enjoy the book but it just wasn’t for me.
Conclusion:
Not for me. The writing didn’t work for me and I didn’t like the hero at all.

This one was different for me.I would say 3.5 stars. I usually find Ms. Sharp's books captivating. However with this one I struggled to get into the story. I was confused with the way Leah was left in the story. Declan was not easy to relate to for me. Sylvia bless her had issues that has her defenses high. I did enjoy seeing how captivated Declan was with Slyvia. Can Declan get past those defenses? Can he reach her heart? Can he let down his walls? Face his own demons? You will have to read the book and find out for yourself. No spoilers! I am going to read the next book in the series and see what happens.

This is the 1st book in the Brass Knuckle Bastards series featuring Declan and Sylvia's intriguing story. From the beginning of Declan and Sylvia's page-turning story you're hooked on the action, drama, intrigue and twists and turns that you don't expect. It's full of surprises and the ending is fantastic! I would definitely recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this exciting series.

She works at a bakery.he is so captivated with Sylvia When he meets her, he is so enthralled with her !! They started a dramatic filled relationship that extends to their friends in their circle. The relationship that Declan and Sylvia has gave me the butterflies because of the way they communicated with each other and how much Declan cares and encourages Sylvia. One thing that kept my interest was the mystery of what Sylvia’s crazy mother needed from her and how obnoxious she could get at times when she talked to Sylvia.

OMG!! What a spectacular ending to a totally explosive book. The action in Declan and Sylvia's story kept me on pins and needles with every turn of the page either something you didn't expect was revealed shocking you to the core or someone's actions was evil at it's finest. Five stars plus goes to Emily for a book you won't want to miss out on.

3 1/2 stars. I had a hard time getting into this story. I was confused with parts of it. I was left wondering what happened with Leah. It did drag in some spots. And jumped around a bit. I did like how Declan was with Sylvia. He helped build her up after years of being put down. I enjoyed the characters and some made me laugh, but this was a little bit of a miss for me. I will read the next book in the series to see the characters and what will happen.

Declan does his job and well, dealing with those who cheat and lie but need to pay, but when he comes across Sylvia, he begins to question his loyalties. Well written steamy, suspense, desire action, and more, the story grabs your attention and the characters keep it all the way through

This was a good darkish crime family romance. I liked the story and the characters but it felt at times like it wasn’t the first book in the series and that I was somehow missing some backstory. I hope that all is explained later on.

Decoding Declan took me a minute to get in to but once I did I couldn't put it down. Sylvia and Declan's story is full of surprises, drama, intrigue and plot twists. It'll keep you on your toes from start to finish.

I actually struggled at first with this story, it was not until two thirds into the book that I actually started to enjoy it, I liked Declan and Sylvia I just expected more of a gang feel that this was not.

I found Declan quite difficult to decode. I had read the prequel, which I really enjoyed btw, but this story jumped on too much, what happened to Leah? She was happy with Marco at the end of prequel when was she kidnapped? I felt like a chunk of story was missing, the dialogue didn't flow and it was hard to connect with the main characters.
