Benny's parents had a travelling theatre company in Ireland. Every week or two they moved to a different town where they put on a show. But nowadays very few people came to see them. It was all the fault of television, Benny was sure. People prefurred to stay at home and watch, rather then go out in the cold. So, he thought, if HE could get on television he would be famous and then lots of people would want to see him! But Benny soon discovered that getting on television was far from easy. Everything he tried went wrong somewhere. Even when his parent were television actors themselves in their own play, The Wexford Road, it began to look as if, far from saving the company, Benny had killed it. If you like acting or watching people act on telvision, or on stage, you will enjoy this book.
