College parties are for drinking and dancing, not destiny. Bethany wanted to have a little fun, hang with her friends, and maybe digest a little eye candy. She hadn’t meant to literally bump into it. When he ended up being besties with her roommate’s crush, the opportunity presented itself, and she was not passing this one up. Bryce went to the party to find his friend a distraction, maybe meet a hookup—nothing more. The hot brunette was a bonus. He tossed her a sign, and she gave it back with her phone number penned in silver. He hadn’t meant for them to get beyond a few nights, or past the semester. He certainly hadn’t known what she was hiding about herself.
With a fun style and strong voices, Bethany and Bryce are a fun couple to follow. Alongside the mains and the likeable cast of characters, the book was so easy to inhale. I love college romances so much and "By My Side" ticks so many of the elements of this genre that I adore. With heat, wit, and enough moments to make me swoon, I happily got lost in the pages.
I fell in love with everything about this book. The characters captivated me and brought me into their world. I would recommend this book to ANYONE in a heartbeat.
I loved, loved, loved this story. Bethany is a college athlete from a bad home. Bryce is a rich kid who plays hockey but doesn’t intend to pursue professional hockey. Neither are looking for a relationship when they bump into each other at a party. But, hey, here we are. We get a glimpse into their love story, their pasts, their thoughts. This story is like we are right there watching a friend navigate life. Bethany doesn’t want Bryce to know how bad her home life is. Bryce believes his high society parents will accept Bethany as she is. Let’s just say that both “meet the parents” situations didn’t go well. Add in a creepy ex-girlfriend and it’s a recipe for an angsty romance. Both Bethany and Bryce need to do some growing while apart to be successful and that was the agonizing part of the story. I loved Bryce’s sister, Petra and hope there is more for her in the future.
