"I’m leaving you.”
When my wife spat out those words, I was angry.
Furious.
I thought I could move on.
Thought I could keep on living my best life without her.
I was wrong.
You don’t ever get over a woman like Rose Reynolds.
You worship her until the day you die.
I did while we dated, and for years after our marriage.
But then I went and screwed up.
My Rose comes with thorns, and she won't forgive me. She won't listen to a word I have to say.
She's completely shut me out.
When I see her on a date months later, I decide in order to win her back, I have to do everything I can to make her realize she's still mine.
I'm going to play dirty.
So, I follow her to her apartment building where we get stuck in the elevator.
That's where things change.
We say things we don't mean.
Things we both regret.
Things that just might be impossible to fix our marriage.

The couple: Callan and Rose

Romance trope: marriage in trouble
Series: ABCs of Love
Length: 121 pages

Plot: The story opens with Callan still upset with the fact that his wife left him. They've been separated for a while now, but not divorced, and he wants her back. She won't listen to any of his explanations though. But tonight she's going on a date with someone else, and he'll do whatever it takes to make sure that she ends up with him.

Commentary: Callan was really mean. I know he was upset that she wouldn't forgive him, but if he's the one who messed up, then saying such horrible things to his wife might not be the way to go. I think that his reaction to her going on that date was a little overblown. They were separated. I know they were not officially divorced, and many people (obviously Callan included) would consider that cheating, but they weren't together, and he knew that she didn't want to be with him anymore. He couldn't have been that surprised that she was moving on. To call her the awful names he did and imply that she was the real destroyer of their marriage was over the top.
“The outcome of what exactly, Rose? What he’ll look and feel like when I’m done with him or what this says about me and you? Fuck you, woman. The way I see it, you are in no position at the moment to tell me what to do. I suggest you get your goddamn ass in your vehicle before the man who was just touching you fucking dies.” He forces a smile and says nothing else as he whirls on me and stomps out.

He shakes his head. “No. I wasn’t spying on you, but maybe I should have. Maybe he wasn’t the first. Maybe my wife has not only been a bitch and dug our hole deeper by not trying to work things out, but she’s turned into a whore. If you’re going to fuck around behind my back, you should at least be smart about where you find your hook-ups, Rose.” He spills out my name like it’s a foul taste in his mouth.

And my favorite, because this is not at all the way anything works:
“You’re right about sex. It doesn’t erase what I’ve done, but you are wrong about my apologies, Rose. If I can forgive myself just like that, then you can, too. If you love me, which I know you do, then yes my apologies should give me a clean slate. If the roles were reversed, there’s almost nothing I couldn’t forgive if this were you.

And when the book finally flashed back to the scene where she left him and we find out why she did, it was all so melodramatic. He was . He didn't cheat, just for clarity's sake. What he did wasn't okay, especially since it went on for a couple of years, but it seemed like a screeching melodrama, very soap opera-ish. And then it ended suddenly with Rose saying, "okay I forgive you." Like she just gave up trying to fight him.

I have read other books by this author and really liked them, so I'm assuming this was just a one-off that didn't appeal to me.

This was a good novella about a married couple working to correct the issues in their marriage. Callan has just always wanted to be able to provide a good and comfortable life for him and Rose. They both came from foster care and struggled to fit in and just survived their whole lives. These two were destined to be together from the moment they met.

Rose has always been there by Callan's side and helped him to build the business they have. Now she wants more...a family of their own. But Callan is too focused on earning more money because he thinks that is what they need. In the process, he is losing sight of what is truly most important...Rose and their future.

Loved seeing these two work out their issues and truly loved the epilogue.

More than halfway through the book and the reason for the fractures in their marriage remained unclear, what could have possibly caused their estrangement? When the mystery is finally revealed, it seemed hugely overstated. Dare I say…unrealistic?

Rose feels betrayed convinced that money and greed supersedes their vows.
“You promised the long hours were almost over, but that was more than a year ago. You even started tossing me little scraps of promises to keep me quiet. Told me you’ll promise to be home for dinner or date nights, but you couldn’t even keep your word on those. Do you have any idea how you’ve made me feel, Callan? How unwanted, how unworthy and lonely I’ve felt?”

Harsh words are exchanged in the heat of anger. A story of broken promises and shattered dreams, taking the one you love for granted.

Callan Michael Reynolds failed to keep his promises to his wife. For years, after they married, she believed in him, believed he’d fulfill her dreams (dreams can change).

Zing is that special feeling, that sensation filled with passion and desire. Kathy Coopman's novella expresses this emotion and sense of feeling, vibrating from each page. I was hooked from the first chapter, actually the prologue had me, and I never turned back. I finished this book in one sitting, turning each page with a sense of urgency, yearning to discover the ending. The romance between Rose and Callan was desirable and steamy. Their passion burned throughout the story. The only issue I have with this story was the climatic reasoning why they separated in the beginning. I find it to be a little dramatic and exaggerated, but overall I really enjoyed this story. I highly recommend and will continue to read more from Kathy Coopman.

Zing, by Kathy Coopmans, may be a short story; however, it sure packed one heck of a punch. This book is so full of real life emotions and situations that Callan and Rose’s story could be anyone of our life stories. Sometimes we let the want for more take away from what we have. Callan and Rose have to fight through the pain, passion and forgiveness to find their way home.

What a great short read, if you've ever been in a relationship there is a chance at one point or another you have felt some of these feelings. Callan and Rose are destined for each other, they've just lost their way. This read definitely pulled some emotions from me.

ZING!!

Kathy Coopman’s ZING was a quick read that had me enthralled even quicker. It was as H-O-T as all hell and I kid you not when I saw it’s #NSFW (not safe for work). If you do want to be reading this in any kind of public place, make sure your back is to the wall, because when your eye’s pop out like organ stops, you don’t want anyone reading over you shoulder to see what has you running hot under the collar 🔥🔥🔥

A lot happens between these virtual pages and my heart broke for Rose when she detailed her reasons for leaving the husband she still loved. Money and success doesn’t by happiness or fulfilment, nor does it negate the purposeful ignorance of a partner, and with lines like this one from Rose to the man she’d separated from, you know that Ms Coopmans had her usual side of angst happening.

“You sliced me wide open, Callan. In my eyes, in my heart you overlooked the one thing I wanted. You let greed make you unsee me.”

Callen had indeed made a huge and sustained mistake and the gravity created a huge chasm of broken promises between them. He wanted to fix things, and I reckoned he’s have gone the whole sack-cloth and ashes route if it had been demanded of him, but Rose couldn’t trust him to keep his word. Not even when he made an oath that undermined all that they’d achieved together.

“I will live on the streets just to have you sleep at my side. I don’t know what the hell else to do to make you want me again.”

Cue a situation of enforced proximity, high feelings and chemistry between two people who still loved each other, some hot angry sex and words thrown like grenades, I wondered how Ms Coopmans could get these two together. Read on McDuff. 5-🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥-Stars! 💔🖤🔥

✯✯3.5 Stars!!!✯✯

I’ve read every book from Kathy Coopmans and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. This is a novella and these are two new character’s from Kathy that we’ve never seen before.

I had a really hard time connecting with the main character Rose. Her and her husband Callan met in elementary school and are both from foster care and have been in love their entire life. Them and their best friend Wyatt opened a dojo and have worked hard to make it a success.

Rose has dreamed of marrying Callan and starting a family together but when they decided to open their business she agreed to hold off trying to have a baby a few years. But, Rose is tired of waiting and she leaves Callan.

It’s been two month’s since Rose left and two month’s since Callan’s slept. Rose still works at the dojo but she won’t lol or talk to him and Callan’s loosing his patience and mind. He knows he screwed up and he’s sorry but Rose won’t budge.

When Callan finds out Rose is out on a date he looses his mind and track’s her down and plans on making her listen to him one last time so they can move on and go back to normal.

When they end up stranded in an elevator he knows they’ll walk out of it together. No matter how much Rose is fighting it.

I have a love/hate relationship with novella’s and this one was no different. I don’t think there was that big of a reason for Rose to go so extra like she did. And, one minute she’s arguing and the next she’s over it. Overall it’s not a bad read I just couldn’t get into Rose and her drama.

I've said this before but I'll say it again. I love this author to pieces.
I've read so many books from her but they are never enough.
Kathy Coopmans is amazing and her books are to die for.
Each story is special and has a special place in my heart.
Her writing is raw and wild, intense, heartfelt, and hot.
I finished a book from her this week and that book gutted me so when I found out that she had another book coming out, I only had one though... To grab that book and read it fast. Lol.
Zing is her latest release and explores the lives of Callan and Rose.
These two have been married for a while but things changed and Rose leaves him.
First, Callan was mad and thought that he would be OK on his own. That he didn't need Rose but soon he realized that it wasn't true.
He loves his wife and will do everything until he gets her back so...
This book was amazing and I couldn't stop reading it.
One minute I was starting it and the next it was over.
I was so into the story that I read it in one sitting.
Stellar plot is well written, super engaging, and full of emotions.
These two were perfect for each other but sometimes life puts obstacles in our paths to see if we truly deserve each other.
How can two people be so stubborn?
They both had their reasons but Dayum.
This book was so good that I didn't want it to end.
Another amazing book Kathy, I'm sad that it ended so fast.
Loved every word and I can't wait for more. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Zing might have been short and fast paced but this story in no way lacked depth or emotion. A story of broken promises and allowing life to get in the way of what really counts. Callan and Rose had a love that was soul deep that they thought would always shine bright. However, when your forever gets taken for granted it will take forgiveness and a love worth fighting for to bring what really is important back into view. A story that is easy to relate to, packed full of passion and has you on the edge of your seat hoping that zing doesn’t die out. Wonderful characters and a unique storyline make for a perfect reading experience.

This is a quick read that will leave you wanting to either throttle Callan or love him to death. When he gets the words that his wife is leaving him things are going to change for him. He's fighting tooth and nail to fix what he broke. Will he be able to do it? Rose has loved Callan her whole life and to be hurt so bad that she's not sure she can recover is devastating. Now he's trying everything he can to get her back. However, things are not as they seem and now they will have to decide if true love and faith are going to keep them together or break them apart for good.

Kathy delivers all the emotions in this short story. The story of a fractured marriage felt realistic and captured the feelings of both Callan and Rose. Slowly we learn what caused this once devoted couple to split. Though it wasn't what I imagined I was glad as it made it something that could happen to anyone. I liked seeing Callan reflect on their life together and how he let the desire for more to take over his life. Loved seeing them work through their issues with a perfect ending.

Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me, but I knew that going in.
This was completely different to what this author normally writes.
It was a quick novella that those who love their steam and are on a time crunch will adore.
Because of the page count there wasn't much time to get to know the characters, but I found myself frustrated at the female main character and applauded the male one when he spoke up.

One thing I commend Coopmans is with writing raw and real moments, especially including married couples. Their trials and tribulations. You get exactly that between Rose and Callan. It is emotional and will hit you hard with the feels as they navigate breaking down and building back up. It is intense to say the least. While this is a novella, it does pack a punch.

This was a novella about a couple fighting to keep their marriage. I enjoyed it enough, however I felt like Callan just wanted Rose to get over it and forgive him because he apologized. It just seemed a bit unrealistic.

This was a good quick read about how quick things can go wrong when you don’t even realise it and love makes you say and do stupid things. I did feel the end a bit rushed and if was longer would of been better, but still a good read and I liked the epilogue

This is a short read about an all encompassing love. The main argument between the couple is realistic and you can feel that love trying to come thru. They just have to work to get back to where they were.

This should become a full on novel, i want more scenes of them working through things than a novella can give me.
