Forced to leave her foster home, seventeen-year-old Kyra takes off in the middle of the night. Only one problem: she didn't realize she was going straight into werewolf territory until it was too late. As if trying to fit into the pack wasn't challenging enough, she also has to survive her family of hunters constantly chasing her, waiting to pounce. But what happens when she starts developing feelings for the unpredictable lone wolf, who despite being ridiculously attractive, isn't her mate? ~~~
He sighed, throwing his head in his hands. “You’re not like us, Ky. You’re… one of them.” His words did absolutely nothing to clear my confusion.
“What the hell are you talking about?” my voice was getting louder and he immediately shushed me. “The other day, we got a call from the agency we adopted you from. They found something in your file,” he rambled. The agency? Why on earth would they be interested in checking my file after all these years?
“Listen just, just go, okay? I can’t help you more than that. Here, take my wallet. I’ll say you stole it. Don’t ever show up here again, alright?” he said, reaching into his pockets and handing me a small leather wallet.
Thank you Nadeen Mohiar for sending me an ARC of this book 😊
I've never picked up a book with the sole focus on werewolves so this was very interesting. I really liked the found family aspect and learning more about werewolves. The storyline itself was intriguing and it was very fast paced. Silas was for sure my favourite character and his friendship with Kyra was so sweet 🥰 I also enjoyed a lot of the banter in this book, it made me giggle. The only thing that I struggled with in this book and the main reason I rated this one a 3.5 stars was that Kyra's internal dialogue was a little cringe to read at times - she's meant to be seventeen but her dialogue and overall manner didn't match up with her age (she read more like a 13-14 year old) which kinda bugged me while reading.
All in all, I'm glad I was able to get the opportunity to read this book and I recommend it to anyone who is into werewolves and are looking for something YA.
First of all I want to thank the author for sharing his book with me. It means a lot to me and I feel absolutely honored.
Hide is about a girl named Kyra. She is adopted and lives with her parents, brother and sister. Her family hunts down wolves. On the day of her birthday her father tests her a little bit. He notices her enhanced sense of smell and how strong she is after her arm wrestles her. He gives her something to drink. And her brother Arthur stops her, and tells her they want to kill her. Because she turns out to be a werewolf. And they hate that they have a wolf under their roof.
Eventually she finds a pack and slowly she earns their trust and becomes part of the pack. I truly love how Alpha Raphael rules his back. Silas, his beta, is one of my fav. characters. And there is also a young boy, pup, in the pack. Max. He is absolutely adorable and I loved every scene he was in.
Kyra also decides to get a job. And Silas helps her. She is going to work in a coffee shop. On the first day a handsome young man strolls in. And immediately they start to banter in a fun way. I love Delias and how fun, wicked, cute and honest he is.
I don’t want to spoil to much about the book. The book is written in an easy way. And the story is easily understood. I really enjoyed the flow and pace of the book. It made me smile at times and I loved the background stories of several characters.
I did miss a few things in this book. The book starts off that there are wolves and hunters. But we don’t get an explanation whatsoever of how they came to be. I still don’t know how it works. Does the human population globally knows about wolves? Or just the hunters? How were the wolves discovered? Is there a global treaty? I wish there was more world building in the book, and that the story lines were more expanded.
Kyra is 17 in the book, but she feels much younger. It feels like she is in her early teens. I would have liked her to be a bit more mature. But I did like that sort of innocence she has about her. She trusts easily and is super kind. But she feels a lot younger than Delias and the co-workers at the coffee shop.
I also wished there was a bit more chemistry between Delias and Kyra. I did love their journey and love story. But I didn’t really feel it in my bones. I wish there was more emotion added in the relationship. I truly hope for scenes where my heart would pound harder, but those weren’t in the book.
They book also consists out of several small storylines – instead of one big one. Which isn’t necessarily bad. But I did wish there was one bigger story line in it.
My fav. scene of the book was the scene were Max as a pup gets attacked by two other wolves. And Kyra steps in and kicks their but! I love their entire relationship and how she truly cares for him.
I also sometimes wished for certain scenes to be more compact. And others more worked out. Like with my favourite scene. I would have loved to see the reunion between Max and his mother Ella. Or the talk between the two alpha’s of who spoke the truth about Max.
But overall I really enjoyed this book. It gave me a happy feeling and I was really invested in all the characters and the journey they were on.
3.5 stars from me! If there was more world building, more background in it, it would have been a 4 star book from me. But because that wasn’t really in it. I’ll settle on 3.5 stars overall.
“The likes of you don’t survive in this cruel world. You need to be feared or people are going to step all over you” -Nadeen Mohiar
I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did. I don’t think I’ve ever read a werewolf book before but after this I’m definitely in search for some more. I loved everything about it. The main character kiyra was absolutely hilarious and just iconic and relatable in so many ways. All of the other side characters were amazing. I grew so attached to kiyra, the characters and this whole plot. The whole idea of a pack reminded me so much of found family. And the romance was really really cute and just ahhhh If I had to pick one word to describe hide I’d go with entertaining More people need to read this book!!!
Thank you Nadeen Mohiar for sending me an ARC of this book. This was the first werewolf based fantasy book I have read. Most of the fantasy books I read have werewolves present but they are never the main aspect of the story, so it was a nice change of pace. In this book, the main character Kyra was adopted when she was younger. The family that adopted her were werewolf hunters. She has been taught to despise the werewolves. One day her brother tells her that her family is going to kill her so he tells her she needs to run. Kyra runs and ends up in the forest and she stopped by a pack of werewolves for trespassing. They point out that she is not human and she is actually a werewolf. Kyra then stays with them, starts developing her skills, and eventually attempts to join their pack. I don’t want to give anything else away, so you will have to read the story to know what happens at the end. Overall I really enjoyed this story. The plot was easy to follow and flowed nicely. The main character was likable and you will be rooting for her to succeed. I liked that there are twists in the plot that kept me on my toes. There is subtle romance in the book as well. The romance isn’t the main plots main objective, but it is a nice addition to the story. I think this was cute, well rounded book. I recommend it to anyone that is looking for a more light hearted fantasy book.
4,5⭐ This book surprised me, and I didn't expect to love it this much. It's a YA book about werewolves (I don't think I have read a book exclusively about werewolves, without vampires or other creatures in the mix) and I found myself wanting to read more and more about the pack and the protagonist, Kyra. She is strong, intelligent, funny, loyal to a fault, passionate and amazing. Her interactions with the pack (the Alpha and the Beta in particular) can be hilarious and the more nervous she is, the funnier she gets. I also loved her interactions with Delias, and how grumpy he is, but also always teasing her somehow. Of course, she mocked him back, and they had great chemistry. Overall I loved this book, and I want more! Please, Nadeen?
This was definitely an interesting book. I have never really been into supernatural or books about werewolves so this was a first! This book follows a teen names Kyra, who after realizing her life is danger must leave her foster home. Only to find herself taken into the Werewolf territory. We see Kyra as she tries to fit into the werewolves’ pack as well as stay safe from the hunters in the human territory. Along the way, Kyra befriends many, including the Leader of the pack and many others there. She also finds herself falling for the notorious lone wolf, Delias. I can only say so much without spoiling but basically the book revolves around Kyra trying to find her place in the Werewolf Territory as well as stay safe from danger. I wish we had more of a backstory on the main character Kyra. We learn that she’s an adopted orphan but I wish there was a bit more backstory on her home life with her adoptive parents before she left. I also think the plot idea was good, however I wish the author did a bit more to explain and differentiate the Wolf Territory from the Human Territory… It took me a minute to figure out what exactly was going on. I just think if there was more history on how there came to be two different territories ( Human and Wolf) the story might’ve read a tad bit smoother. I did enjoy the dialogue between Kyra, and the “Beta” Silas, who seemed to be similar to an older brother/ guardian. Their relationship was fun to read. I wish that the MC Kyra had a tad bit more character development, I feel like she was kind of static throughout the the novel. Nonetheless, when it seemed to get boring something new would happen which definitely kept me entertained throughout the book! This book was definitely interesting and a nice change to what I normally would read. Every now and then I like to read different genres than my normal ones so this was intriguing. I don’t think that werewolves are my personal forte but if you are looking for an adventurous YA fiction novel with werewolves then check it out!
Thank you, Nadeen for giving me the opportunity to read this book!
This was the first werewolf focused story I've ever read, and I think it's safe to say that werewolves are not my thing. I have nothing against the whole thing, I just personally didn't enjoy the way the general werewolf system works. I don't completely understand it since it's my first time reading about it, but I don't think I'd read a werewolf story again.
The story was very fast paced and easy to understand. I wish there was more detail and depth to the characters, though. Although I enjoyed the banter, most of the characters were pretty static. They don't change much. Silas and Max were the only character who I genuinely liked reading because they were so sweet and made me laugh. Kyra and Delias were kinda annoying, and I didn't really like Kyra's internal dialogue. I know she's supposed to be seventeen but she read like a 14 year old. I didn't really like Arthur, Delias, or Raphael either. They just gave me weird vibes.
There was a lot of interesting things going on in the story that I really enjoyed, but I won't give away any spoilers. The way the dialogue and characters were written made it feel like reading a high school story but exchange the high school with werewolf territory, which was quite fun! The characters are very relatable and there are a lot of pop culture references that I know people enjoy finding while reading. It wasn't entirely my vibe but I enjoyed the change, I never read anything like it before. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes werewolves and high school stories, as well as beginner Young Adult readers.
Hide was an average read for me. The plot felt rushed at times, or like there wasn’t really a plot at others. But it was still a fun read! The writing style is very simple and at times a little under developed, but I think this is a great debut novel for a young author! Overall when reading this, I got major Wattpad vibes and it took me back to high school days.
Kyra was not my favorite. She was ignorant and whiny for most of the book, and her character arch didn’t really develop. She just wasn’t my kind of female protagonist..
Silas was my favorite character! He was kind and fun and just an overall well developed character. His relationship with Kyra was very cute and I enjoyed the good natured platonic relationship they had within the story. I almost wish he would’ve been the main character! (bonus point that my brother is also called Silas lol)
Delias was an okay character. I like a dark and broody male love interest, but I feel like he couldn’t been developed a little more. He just kinda fell flat for me, unfortunately.
The romance in this book is very YA! Which is not a bad thing, and sometimes I feel like the bookish community needs to appreciate young romance a little more! (But if you’re looking for spice, this book isn’t for you)
I would’ve loved to see a little more world building and one overarching plot for the novel, but I enjoyed how quick of a read this was. It was definitely a pallet cleanser type of book for me, and I enjoyed it!
It wasn’t my typical read but I’m so grateful to the author for sending me a copy!! If you’re into young adult werewolf romance novels, then I definitely recommend!
Thank you Nadeen Mohair for giving me the opportunity to read an review this book! This is my first werewolf centered fantasy read. Kyra Ashland is adopted at a young age by a family of renowned werewolf hunters and is raised to hate and fear wolves. Kyra’s whole world turns upside down when her brother warns her that their parents plan to kill her, that she must run away and never come back. Upon running away from home, she trespasses on a wolf pack’s territory and is taken in by them as a guest until she can be initiated into their family or move on.
I’m giving this book 2.5/5 because while the plot was fun and flowed well, there were some things I had a few issues with. The writing voice comes across as very juvenile, which for Kyra’s internal dialogue and external conversations, it is fitting and appropriate. However, I did get tired of Kyra constantly calling people “losers”, “suckers”, and “fat asses” and just as frequently making defensive side comments in her own head. I would’ve also liked a more mature voice for the older characters as well.
I will say that I did fall in love with Silas, definitely my favorite pack member!! And Max? Precious. Absolutely precious.
This book read like a first or second draft, and I would love to one day read a more fine tuned version of this because I truly did enjoy the underlying story. I would recommend this for anyone seeking a sweet coming of age and found family story with a sprinkle of romance.
First off I want to thank the author for sending me a copy of this to read I enjoyed the read. ☺️
High 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. I enjoyed reading the book it’s a YA werewolf romance book.
Story follows a girl called Kyra and she is within an adopted family, the family are werewolf hunters. So we follow her journey throughout the book and how she fits in to this new world. Was surprised I enjoyed the book I liked the progress the story was going in,the romance is super cute and the whole pack element has that found family vibe which is always nice to read. Wish there was abit more about Kyra past and her background but otherwise I enjoyed it. Definitely a YA read.
Finally this book is out! I read Hide like an obsessed person would; I cut off all contact with friends and family and forgot about any basic human needs for a while. Let me tell you once you start this read, there’s no going back. This book sucks you right in from the start. Usually, when you read a book, you’re engrossed by the MCs only but I’ll be damned if I don’t get a Silas, a Raphael, an Arthur and of course, a Delias (is that a super sexy name or what?!). EXTREMELY lovable characters and I appreciated Kyra’s humor so much in intense moments of the book because I can’t handle any more anxiety than provided by the pandemic. First time reading this author’s work and definitely won’t be the last. I love discovering indie authors, always feels good to be one of the first to find the good ones. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Thank you to the author for sending me the e-book.
This is the first time I read a story solely based on werewolf. The world was easy to understand even if there were politics, laws and history.
The reader is thrown into the plot right from the start and you discover this new world as the same time as the main character Kyra.
She was a great character and you follow her through the ups and downs of her transformation. She gains confidence and finds a family.
It was cute to see her leed these big men forward by the nose. I love how protective all the boys were with her. The banter was amazing between the whole cast. Delias and Arthur had me laughing. The romance was cute and with ennemies to lovers vibes.
If you want a quick standalone to read with urban paranormal fantasy and funny characters, I will recommend this one.
I don't usually do book reviews but this one should be known worldwide, it didn't allow me to drop it down. The plot twist was a little bit not pleasing to the reader but it succeeded annoying me, tho she quickly pleased us by some romantic moments that touched my heart! Overall, it’s amazing🤍
What an unexpected wonderful read. This novel follows the journey of Kyra, a main character coming from a family of hunters who ends up in werewolf territory.
The characters are absolutely lovable, the romance between the characters gives you honest giggles and a lovely butterfly effect in your stomach as the story goes.
In my personal opinion, the MC seemed a little younger than the actual age in the development, but the story is fast paced, there is no boring parts and it’s something that I highly value in books.
I can’t wait to read more from Nadeen Mohiar. Thank you so much for sending me an advanced copy. I never say no to indie author’s as it makes me discover little gems like this novel.
I was sent this book by the author to read and give an honest review.
I really enjoyed the book. It was very fast paced and had lots of plot twists in which I love. It was a more modern take on a werewolf story which was interesting most of the ones I’ve read seem to be set earlier in time. The descriptions were well written and you could feel the emotions coming from the characters.
My only issues were the beginning of the book seemed a little rushed and the main character seemed a bit younger than she was supposed to be. However overall I really enjoyed the book.
This is my first time reading a book about werewolves and I'm not gonna lie I really enjoyed it I couldn't put the book away, I kept reading wanting to know what's going to happen next.
