From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jamie Thornton.
An apocalypse ruined all of Dessa's plans.
Dessa has reunited with her brother. She plans to hide with him and her friends while waiting out the zombie apocalypse in safety. But an unexpected crisis throws Dessa's group into a race against time. Her brother is showing signs of infection and the only way to keep him and the other special children from turning into ravenous monsters is to brave the outside world.
They need some zombie-blocker meds, and they need them fast.

I'm a voracious reader in many genres. I do sometimes judge a book by its cover art. Life is too short to spend time reading or reviewing bad books so you'll see my library, ratings, and reviews represent books I believe are worth sharing.
I live in Northern California with my husband, two dogs, a garden, lots of chickens, a viola, and a bicycle. My anthropology degree shapes my fiction. I write dark adventures (science fiction, fantasy, post-apocalyptic, coming-of-age) with a hint of romance. Follow me at JamieThornton.com
I received a copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Another adventure for Dessa and her friends. After finding her brother, Ivan, Dessa and company move on to find a safe place. But more importantly, Ivan has been infected and the priority becomes treatment for him. Together they set out to find the proper medication to help the young boy recover. But life isn’t easy in the world of Zs and Vs and neutrals. Everywhere you go you take your life in hand. Everyone wants to devour your future – as well as you!
So the next trek starts. Traveling in a Taco truck, loaded with children, Dr. Winters and her friends, they set out for Sanctuary where they will find everything they need. Medicine, treatment, food, shelter, and safety. But first they must find a way to Sanctuary. And that is not easy.
Can Dessa, et al, reach safety? If you think the first book was exciting, make sure you grab the second book. The tension builds as the danger ratchets up, and the world fills with Zs and Vs. Prepare yourself for another trip through the world’s end. It’s worth the trip.
Our heroine and her friends survived the first challenge, but things are not getting any better. And while they just want to wait things out, circumstances are going to dictate a more active approach.
This is book two of a series. It does okay as a standalone, but you will be missing quite a bit of background. This book covers the basics early on, but only that.
This is a zombie apocalypse story with a young protagonist. The story is well written and easy to read with a well developed cast of characters. Besides our heroine, there is a solid cast of friends that support her in her quest and we get to know them all pretty well. Like the previous book, the story moves at a fast pace, which is necessary for us to keep ahead of the zombies. Fair warning: it does end on something of a cliffhanger, definitely leaving you wanting the next book. Overall, it was another fun read with plenty of action and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Highly recommended.
I received an ARC from the author for review purposes.
I just had to get the second book quickly after the first in the series. There is still plenty of action and the character development (a real feature of the story line) is wonderful. I enjoyed the book from start to finish.
There were a few surprises (and I suspect a lot more to come in future books) and some new characters. I'm especially curious to see how Tigg develops as a character (sorry no more details than that).
With a series of books there is sometimes a cliff hanger at the end - and I found the cliff hanger here really satisfying (and unexpected) as a reader. And there is only one thing you can do with a good cliff hanger ... time to get the next book.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Another outstanding Apocalypse continuation. Dessa’s brother has an infection, how will she help him. How will they all manage to keep surviving. The narration makes you feel as if you’re on the run with them. Don’t miss out.
There is a really rich variety of characters, events, trials and losses in this second book that will keep you caught up in the adrenaline. A must read!!
This is a great second part to this YA, zombie, end of the world adventure! I did really enjoy this, not too nasty as YA but still great ideas & storyline, well written & thought our plot! A really great read! I do recommend & do hope to read the next in this series soon! Great stuff!
Team Tigg Set aside a day for this second book in the PG series with four teens and an older lady trying to rescue ten kids from the zombie-like Lyssa-infected in northern California. I had a review copy and this is my voluntary review. 3 1/2*
Another book that kept me up at night and occupied my day… excellent writing and characters. Y’all need to grab your copy and don’t forget to start at book one.
Great continuation of the story and development of characters! The story pulls you in and you just have to keep reading. If you enjoyed the first book this is definitely a must read!
