It's 1996 and Mighty Casey Morgan is back in Mudville - this time with a schtick of a different sort. The former all-star first baseman, jilted by the team he carried on his back for fifteen seasons, now rules the AM talk show airwaves. Callers into the program love talking with their hometown hero and hope his return will somehow energize their struggling ballclub, for longtime fans of the Mudville Muscle are dying to finally hoist a championship pennant. Some more literally than others.

I loved the idea of a baseball murder mystery and so glad I was able to read this. It had that suspenseful atmosphere that I was hoping for and glad it had that element that I was looking for. Drew Mitchell wrote this perfectly and had characters that felt like they belonged in this world.

It's the nineties and Casey, a fifteen year veteran baseball player, has been put to pasture. He ends up working in the radio box at his hometown's local baseball team when murder and mayhem strike. This is an interesting, baseball-themed mystery with enough twists and baseball to keep the reader interested.

The one problem I had with the story is that it too centered on the main character and not on the plot of the story. But beyond that, I liked the characters, and the theme of the book. I have to admit it was tough to put down once I got though the last third of the story.
