Last week I accidentally and publicly raised the dead. Now I’m the only necromancer at Ravenhold reform academy.
Ravenhold detains dangerous juvenile offenders on a remote Scottish island, where their magic is useless and escape impossible. I’m told I’ll leave after rehabilitation, but nobody will tell me how or when.
Dorian Blackwood rules over the vampires, shifters and witches in the academy's halls. As the only vampire-witch hybrid in existence, he has unparalleled supernatural abilities and few people dare confront the cruel and charming savage.
But the academy's two other powerful hybrids want him deposed—Zeke the dominant shifter whose laidback manner hides a vicious streak, and the silent and secretive Ethan who nobody dares touch. As the new hybrid at the academy, I’m dragged straight into the middle of their power struggle.
Even though I'm drawn to the three guys, I want to keep away from academy violence and politics. I make a plan to keep my head down, attend the classes, and hope for an early release. I don’t want anybody to discover my I’m the trinity witch.
But something sinister runs through the academy underbelly as students go insane or disappear without a trace. When I’m made a sickening offer, I discover exactly how sinister.
To survive Ravenhold's corruption, I'll need to make a deal with three hybrids who can choose to either help me or kill me.
This box set contains the entire Ravenhold series from LJ Swallow. The books are set in a supernatural reform academy with deliciously dangerous guys and a badass heroine who won't bow to anyone. This is a slow burn, enemies to lovers, dark academy series where the heroine doesn't need to choose.
PLEASE This book is written in British English and includes spelling and grammar styles that may look incorrect to some readers.
LJ Swallow is a paranormal romance and urban fantasy author who is the alter-ego of bestselling contemporary romance author Lisa Swallow.
Giving in to her dark side, LJ spends time creating worlds filled with supernatural creatures who don’t fit the norm, and heroines who are more likely to kick ass than sit on theirs.
This is the complete Ravenhold series. This is Eloise, Dorian, Ethan, and Zeke’s story. I loved everything about this series. This is a definite must read
Meh. I really wanted to like this series but there it just didn’t reach the mark. The books focus around the Trinity Witch who is supposedly this all powerful witch that everyone should fear, however, it feels like she is afraid of her own shadow. She likes to talk about how powerful she is but never actually uses that magic for anything useful. She cowers at the first sign of trouble and is so ridiculously naive.
Now for the guys.
Dorian: easily my favorite character because he is consistent, however, again like the trinity witch, he is supposedly an all powerful hybrid but can’t even manage to kill his parents when given the chance, even though that’s all he wants. He also feels abut immature at times, almost pouting when people don’t fear him the way he expects.
Ethan: definitely gives Edward Cullen vibes with “stay away from me but also, I can’t seem to stay away from you.” He’s also very emotionally led, which comes off annoying. Like in the last book when he all but drags everyone to go the the trap meeting just so he can see his sister and nearly gets Zeke killed, actually gets his own brother killed but all he is worried about is his sister.
Zeke: he was fine, I didn’t really have many issues with his character but he also didn’t really add anything.
Overall, this story was lacking in a lot of places but definitely in character building. I also hated how incomplete it was. You have 3 books about these two factions fighting against each other but the series just leaves off with them skipping out and jumps to a few years in the future with nothing having changed other than them living alone on a island with their kid. The next series is 12 or so years in the future and references how things currently are but it is really disappointing that these characters all talk about wanting to end both sides or whatever and they just run. They are supposed to be the most powerful beings but because Eloise is afraid of that power, nothing gets resolved.

I was able to finish this book set with in two days. I absolutely love it. The what the f*ck factors with in this book set are really awesome. There are some stuff in book 1 that set the path for some awesome things to happen in the later books. It has a lot of wow moments as well. Eloise is someone who has been suppressed and controlled. Her family uses her as a show boat and brings her around to brag to other family’s about all that she can do. She is definitely a power house that many would not expect. I think it is funny that the first day she walk into the Academy she already has an enemy. She also shows how much of a badass she is when she takes no shit from Dorian. Even though she should feel some kind of fear towards him with his record. Now her ex is the biggest slime ball there ever was. He deserves to rot in hell because of the things he chooses to do. He truly is an evil person. Now the second and third book in this series are awesome. This bunch creates their own family in the end. It wasn’t supposed to work out that way though. They were truly set to try to kill each other by one group. The other wants to blackmail them into doing their dirty work. Well only after raising them a monster. Both groups have set out to try and up the other and they will use any and all things possible to get what they want in the end. Who’s going to bring them down though? Will this mix up of a group finish what they started? Or will they end up captured and controlled?
Absolutely loved this series - fully of mystery and intruige with pleanty of plot twists. Absolueley loved Eloise, Dorian, Zeke and Ethan and all their flaws as they are definately dysfunctional and it takes the entire 3 books before they start to gel which i loved and Absolutley loved teh crossovers to Nightworld Amazing Author with great world building and amazing character developement - doesnt get much better than this!
I enjoyed the characters and the story lines of this story. I would definitely recommend that it is to be read along with the other books in the series.
Please note that I read each of these books as an advanced reader. My reviews are voluntary.
Witchborn – 5 stars
Eloise is the Trinity witch who has been sent to the so-called reform school, Ravenhold, after accidentally bringing an aunt back from the dead. Necromancy is not a good skill for a witch to have and Eloise was "designed" to have it. One of the first people she sees after arriving on the cold, barren, Scottish island where the school is located, is Dorian Blackwood. Dorian is the vampire-witch hybrid who killed her favorite uncle and she plans to avenge that death. But first she will have to figure out how to navigate her new reality -a school where the dangerous students are a mixture of shifters, vampires, and witches and classes include meditation and gardening.
It doesn't take Eloise long to find herself in a strange situation where she is attracted to a huge shifter of unknown species, a tiger shifter, and the aforementioned vampire. She had no idea who she can really trust, if anyone. It appears that someone is trying to set the four of them up for something, but what? Do they want them to destroy each other, or is it even more sinister than that? We certainly are not going to find out quite yet. Stay tuned.
Magic Forged 5 stars
It took me a few pages to remind myself where the last book left off and who was who. We start with Eloise outside the academy walls alone on the island. Fortunately, she finds Zeke out there with her and they manage to survive an attempt from Francesca to remove them from the island. Was she working for the Confederacy or herself? Now that her attempt at "recruiting" has failed, a member of the Confederacy shows up to "fix" things. His solution is to leave the lunatics in charge of the asylum, so to speak. Zeke is to go back to keeping the shifters in line and Dorian to keeping everyone in line. Yeah, that'll work. Just when it seems like things can't get worse, Ivan shows up.
I will leave you to find out how everything turns out. Things are going to be totally different at the end of the book. Enjoy.
Blood Legacy – 5 stars
Lots of stuff happening in this final book in the series. We join Eloise, Dorian, Zeke, and Ethan right where we left them in the last book (it took me a second to remember where that was !). Now that they have escaped from Ravenhold they have to worry about either the Confederacy or the Dominion finding them. They also have to do something about Zeke's Tigris connections and Ethan's search for what happened to his sister, along with Dorian's thirst for revenge against his family and any others on his "list." Things are going to get interesting...
