The plot ever thickens and our characters venture into new, dangerous lands as they continue on twisty paths to save the world from the rising darkness. There were some gorgeously quotable lines here, some great humor and ...THAT KISS. *swoons*

Sersha is once again without Kazmerev, and Judicus is once again totally out of the action, and she feels so vulnerable being unable to communicate with the guards traveling with her. Her inability to talk makes her feel useless and unable to protect those she cares for, namely Judicus who she is getting feelings for. She is jealous of Flara, the rider also traveling with them, who was trying to get close to Judicus. Sersha always felt no one would choose to love someone like her so she took a step back allowing Flara to persuade Judicus to use the knot she had tattooed on her arm in order to undo the knot near the plinth. Judicus though worried about his poor sister who had been crowned as the next Grand Hadri against her will, and who had an arrowhead embedded in his leg put his rope work before his own worries to their detriment. Betrayal followed and both Sersha and Judicus carried the weight of their actions which had caused many an innocent their life. He had been named the seeker, the one from prophecy but it was a lie and all the actions they took after untying the knot led them both into further danger. Poor Sersha found herself once again imprisoned, on her own and voiceless and with no idea of how to get them out of the hole they had dug themselves in! Judicus was always full of good intent but spent most of his time being either sick or unconscious leaving poor Sersha to deal with the consequences of his decisions. This series just keeps on getting more dangerous and ever more exciting and I am so glad I won’t have too long a wait to read the next episode.

Nutritious popcorn for the soul is his I described Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Phoenix Heart series to my husband recently. I loved “Season 1” and looked forward to Season Two. These stories are all well written and highly addictive. Each is a fast fun read. Enough that I was able to binge read through all five of this “Season’s” books in one (admittedly extra long) sitting. Pure yumminess. I loved Sersha and Kazmerev (and, ok, Judicus too) and who couldn’t live phoenix-riders and a great quest to save the phoenixes and all of Calicarn from the predations of the (cue bad-guy music here) Stryxex? A perfectly written wild ride through yet another great story arc filled with a wonderful cast of characters (both good and bad guys). Not surprisingly I find it easy to highly recommend this 2nd Season of stories as much as I did Season 1. You can definitely read these stories in individual episode bites (they’re actually well designed for this) or binge it as I did. Either way you’re bound to enjoy it.

Another episode of this series. Sersha and Judicus on their way to the mountains with 3 guards. Judicus had an arrow in his leg from the last fight with the raiders but Sersha was going to try to heal him. Finally Shersha's Phoenix came alive with night and they flew as far as possible. Her sister Mally the ai'sletta, is the person everyone wants. Now they are flying on the Phoenix to tell the next town to let them know they are in danger of the things that walk like tall rocks and kill. They think Judicus is lying.

Another fine mess you’ve got me into. I’m sure Sersha would have wanted to say that.

This was another rip roaring episode in what is an exciting and nail biting series.

Sersha shows true courage over her , what others might see a disability, but proves she has true grit.

So much action in this episode it’s hard to keep up.

The only downside is that we are left with a cliffhanger. But it’s not too long till the next episode, so patience.

Well worth a read ( well the whole series is).

A lot happens in this episode. Sersha continues to be a stalwart companion for Judicus. Much of what I've learned from earlier episodes got turned on its head. Brutality is rampant. Loyal friendships are time limited. The ending is much like other episodes: a foreshadowing of what might come next.

Action-packed. Entertaining. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

Sersha and Judicus try hard to get to the prophesied pillar to stop the enemy and aid Mally in her work in the other country. Not all is always as it seems, neither are people. Some can fool everyone that they are on their side, when they are on the side of the enemy.

The phoenixes are just the best!
