Very interesting on at least two fronts: (1) insights in the history of early Jewish settlers in Languedoc and Provence well before the Sepharadim. (2) his description and thoughts about the tension between love and roots in his couple, symbolised by the walks he takes in the Lebanese mountains as a Parisian Jew , right next to his people’s home in Israel. Allegiance to family, faith and cultural heritages are everyday balancing acts for him and for his wife in different ways. I found the book interesting despite some narcissism because of this combination of history and modern life in multicultural families.
