They cover the span of my life and represent one man's search to pierce the veil of the invisible. Poetry and prayer are perhaps the two beams of a ladder, with the words as the rungs. If one is fortunate enough to climb high enough and peer through the veil at the top, perhaps only then can we leave the ladder itself behind. A beautiful book to return to and muse over. I love the two sections of poems and then prayers, some of which remind me of the ones in the Sacred Seals. The prayers are really powerful and lovely. The poems are as well. And the art is so ethereal, with a simple beauty. Rudd here is fully the human-divine mix, exploring nature, eros, nostalgia, family, and connection to the divine. Rudd's books always help me pivot to bring a great sense of peace and breath into my body when I am stressed out, irritated, etc. They give the effects of mediation.
