A mini-book that defines manipulation and provides strategies to confront it in a loving way.
Manipulation is a painful and destructive relational dynamic. Today we are often told to establish “boundaries” or get rid of “toxic relationships,” but this may not always be helpful or fulfill God’s command to love our neighbor. So how should we respond? This mini-book defines what manipulation is and the many ways it is expressed, and then sets out practical and biblical strategies for confronting it in a way that helps and shows love to the manipulator.
Reminded me of the pervasive selfishness of the human heart and the many sinful ways that comes out in our interaction with others. So much to learn here about making sure I am using my words in a way that holds to truth, and doesn't demand my way by applying pressure. Also helps kill fear when dealing with someone who manipulates by thinking carefully through how to lovingly confront with truth.
If your life requires you to interact with other people, this book will help you. There are ways we are all manipulating and being manipulated. Sayers helpfully defines and illustrates manipulation biblically, and equips you to respond in a godly way.
