Stuck in a distant galaxy? Again? This really wasn’t Charlie’s day.
Someone had Charlie in their crosshairs. A war-like race hell-bent on galactic domination. But unlike Charlie’s enemies of the past, this new threat had a few tricks up their sleeves, namely, using technology and magic interchangeably. Suddenly, what was once Charlie’s biggest advantage had been negated.
Worse yet, his own magic, as well as that of his friends, wasn’t quite working right in this new corner of space. In fact, they learned the hard way that if they weren’t careful they could just as easily harm their allies as well as their enemies. Strike two for Team Charlie.
Even so, they were fighting back with everything they had, all the while worrying their homes and families were at risk while they were locked in battle far, far away. One thing was for sure. With a kid on the way, Charlie was damn well going to do whatever it might take to get back home. But the question lingered. Would it be enough?
Scott Baron is an American author with a penchant for oddball stories with O. Henry-esque twists.
Born in Hollywood, Baron credits growing up in Los Angeles with skewing his humor towards the offbeat and absurd. He studied abroad in Italy during his college years, returning to Los Angeles to work in the film industry as an on-set medic. In addition to writing shorts and novels, Baron is also a screenwriter of both feature and television scripts.
A fabulous piece of work from Scott Baron. He never disappoints.
There's everything you could ever hope for between these pages, humour, alien nasties, our friends being in MEGA trouble, being out of contact with each other, and don't forget that Law belonging to Murphy as it's never far away. Excellent characterisations (that we love and feel for!), believable scenarios with no way out, action-packed plots, and war on a massive scale. Unfortunately, our friends are forced to ask for help... and you won't believe who from!
My emotions were dragged one way then the other until I didn't know where I was. You'll be screaming for the next book when you hit the final page. Wonderful, quality writing and storytelling. I love the Charlieverse!
Riveting reading as usual, Scott Baron's continuing saga of Charlie and his ever-expanding circle of good guys is absorbing to say the least! Possibly the most distracting thing is thinking "Wherever did I see that name before and what did he/she do when they first appeared! 11 books in and I think its time for a wrap before the plots become too repetitive in my humble opinion. The teaser title for book #12 is "End Game Charlie", with a teaser intro at the end of this book. I nearly dropped a star because I can find no mention of that book except in this book! Irritating, as I would have pre-ordered it by now! Not a book to introduce the adventures of Charlie, best to follow this saga from book #1.
The series has been enjoyable, but the author has continuity issues that jar this reader out of the stories. If he had made a guide of who, what, when, where and how the stories would flow more smoothly.
Another excellent adenture for Charlie, his family and friends. I won't go into details to avoid spoilers. 😊 This series and books are too good to spoil for anyone. 😁
