The premise of this story is simple… Everybody is good at something. Using physical education classes as an example, we journey with Katie through the anguish of finding something that she is good at.
This is a great story for many reasons. It shows: 1) that the struggle is real! Many of us struggle to find what we are good at and enjoy; 2) the familiar internal dialogue that we have when we wish to be avoidant; 3) that often we have to experiment with many activities or hobbies prior to finding our niche.
This was a nice and relatable story that cleverly incorporated information about yoga poses and their purpose into the storyline. Included at the end, is a note to parents and teachers with more information about yoga including origins and basic principles. Additionally, readers can sign up on the website for free yoga resources and updates.
The illustrations are soft, expressive and charming. I really like the primary colour palate.
I recommend this story for all young readers. This is a nice, support piece for nurturing confidence and self-esteem in children struggling to find their strengths.
This is a sweet book that not only teachers children about yoga but also teaches them that everyone is good at something (as the title states.) Katie is unable to do pull ups, jump rope, or dribble a ball in PE class. But one day, her teacher introduces the students to yoga and things change for Katie. Through text and illustrations, the author teaches readers a few yoga poses children can follow (even adults.) Readers also learn about the benefit of each pose. I really liked reading it. Flowed nicely. Illustrations are simple and cute.
What a sweet story that teaches kids both about yoga and self Esteem. Kids aren't all naturally good at all sports and it's important for them to know that that's ok and that if they keep trying different things they will find something that interests them and something they're good at. Well done!
I love that this book highlights that everybody is good at something. Especially loved the diversity in the kids shown throughout the book. This is also a great read for those beginning yoga with their kids. Loved the explanation of each pose.
An empowering message and gentle introduction to helpful yoga poses and breath work for children. You may even find yourself practicing yoga alongside the main character!
I recommend this story for parents and teachers who want to help kids learn to be willing to try new things. Children are introduced to yoga and an important lesson on building self-confidence.
