With the fae poised to attack their ancient enemy and reclaim their native soil, Rory MacBain has no expectation of being a hero. His reckless and roguish ways have always been a liability to the Campbell Clan of ba’vonn-shees—blood-drinking fae from the Scottish Highlands.
But then Rory meets Serena—a human woman who gives him more credit than he’s ever given himself. He has no business loving her, but then that’s just like him, isn’t it?
And when Serena turns out to be the greatest threat to the revolution, Rory must stomp out the fires he’s unintentionally set. For failing could mean the end of the fae and the demise of his entire world.
If only he could have the woman he loves, and still find lasting peace.
USA Today bestselling author A.S. Green lives in chilly Minnesota and spends the all-too-short summers on Lake Superior, which is the muse for her paranormal and contemporary romances. She writes complex characters, action-packed plots, and snarky in-your-face banter. And, of course, loads of steamy love scenes.
When she's not writing romance, she's probably watching Outlander or pleading (unsuccessfully) with her husband to don the kilt she bought him last summer.

Today marked the end of what could have been. In one way or another, regardless whether he lived or died, he would forever be estranged from his intended mate.
5 stars!
This was such a bittersweet yet amazing finale to what has been one of my favorite ongoing series by A.S. Green! This epic and (hopefully) final battle between the fae and the members of the Black Castle has been slowly culminating ever since Cormac met Meghan 11 books ago, and I have honestly loved every single story of romance and heartbreak in between.
Layered throughout the beginnings of the ultimate war are sweet and sexy moments between Rory and his forbidden mate, Sofia. There are so many things standing between their love for each other, but no one can deny fate--not even two people standing on opposite sides of a war. And even though we get to see all of our favorite characters again, I couldn't help but notice Finn's absence in this novel. My heart broke for Rory and the rest of the Campbell clan as they grieve one of their own while preparing to avenge his death and the deaths of so many more.
The final battle for peace was brilliantly done, and I absolutely LOVED seeing all of my favorite characters--including Cormac, Declan, Aiden, Kane, Raine and their mates--one last time. I will always love and miss these characters so much, but I cannot wait to see what Anne has in store for us next ♡
My Rory, the vampire who must decide between his fated mate and the fate of his race...

Oh how the tables have turned! Revenge resounds throughout Blood Rising (Highland Blood Fae Book 5) by A.S. Green as all the Fae gather and unite to regain the home they are entitled to. Rory, the hero of this book, is dealing with loss and is uncertain of his contribution to the cause. Through a twist of fate, he finds not only his fated mate, but in quite the predicament! The heroine, Sofia, could be argued is not quite suited to Rory, except that they really are suited! Rory and Sofia soothe each other and connect above and beyond between the sheets, or the wall, or the dressing room. Is it Fate’s bad joke on Rory or Fate’s attempt at healing and bringing peace to the Fae after centuries of unrest, death and displacement? The plot of this book of the series, shifts a bit in that the Fae have always been on the defensive. This time around, the Fae have the opportunity to demonstrate they are no longer hiding, waiting. It’s exciting and suspenseful, action packed and full of alpha protective measures that demonstrates determination. Overall, this series ending is bittersweet. Rory and Sofia realized their fated mates HEA, the Fae are safe, but loss and grief for Finn is still deeply felt. This author did a wonderful job of honoring Finn, it’s sweet and full of promise. I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
It is equal parts excitement that we read about Rory & Sofia's Story in Blood Rising and bittersweet as A.S. Green's Highland Blood Fae Series is ending at the same time. SO much happens in Blood Rising... action, battles, heartbreak, betrayals, sex (...so intense & delicious), fae & family reunions, new life, mercy, hope, acceptance. I cried, laughed, swooned, worried, cried some again and eventually relief. Rory & Sofia's journey to each other is not easy; they fight for each other...for when they are finally bonded together...all the more sweeter. I very much enjoyed how A.S. Green shared little snippets & scenes on all her bonded couples we have loved from the very beginning with her hell hounds until her last couple Rory & Sofia in this story. 😊🌴🌺 I received an ARC for my honest review.
What a finale!. The ancient enemy has returned and is even more deadly than before. Rory may not be a hero, but his unexpected passion and recklessness may just be what is needed to take down the threat. But will his love, human woman Serena, become a casualty in the war? Or will her allegiance be the breaking point in the battle for life?
I have loved reading this series and the final book was a great addition. I liked Rory and felt for him when he finds his mate in Serena but it could be a bad match. I loved how this book drew me in and I didn't want to stop reading until I found out what happened for the fae.
