Winds from the Sea

When Sara decided to get away from it all and take a job in the Scottish Hebrides, she looked forward to a complete change from the city life to which she was accustomed.

Her new employer, the disconcerting Hugh Fraser, was certainly very different from any man she had ever met before!

"Winds From The Sea" is the story of Sara and Hugh.

Aww.

A very sweet story of sorrow and recovery.
Our heroine travels to a remote island, to work for the hero as a secretary and a keeper for his sister. She has recently lost her parents in a tragic accident, and wants to get away and recover.
She meets the hero, who asks her to help him out while spying on his sister who is dating an "unsuitable" guy. The book basically is a courtship between them, where she keeps getting into trouble and he rescues her, while helping her heal and find happiness again. There is some family and OW/OM jealousy, but it is all baseless.

It's very low angst with a smitten beta hero and a lost heroine. A good one time read.

Peaceful experience!

I'm giving this 3 and a 1/2 stars because I absolutely loved the way the book ended, with the arrogant H saying that he will try to make up for all the h has lost. The number of books that end with the H focused entirely on the heroine's happiness separate from his own are few and far between.

Set on the Isle of Mull in the Hebrides.

Heroine is still grieving her parents when her friend suggests she work as a temporary secretary to the hero. He has inherited his uncle’s castle and must clear out the paperwork. Plus, he needs a minder for his bratty stepsister who is threatening to run off with an artist.

Hero is cranky when he first meets the heroine and stays cranky for the entire story. Although he constantly tells her how beautiful she is and plucks her off a cliff, rescues her when the mist descends, takes her to Iona for a travelogue, and makes jealous remarks about the doctor who is a constant visitor. Yes, our hero is smitten and trying not to show it.

Luckily there is a catty OW for the hero to hide behind.

The whole things wraps up on the last page when the hero confesses his love after he blames the heroine for letting his stepsister sneak around with the artist.

I think we’ve all read this scenario before, but I enjoyed the setting and the dueling cattiness of stepsister and OW.

Dreary slog featuring a typical arrogant, mocking MMC who bestows punishing kisses on and manhandles the sad-sack MFC on one page, then tells her to keep out of his way on the next. For someone in love, he certainly treated her poorly. She's a bewildered, weepy mouse incapable of clear thinking or smart decisions, a doormat who apologizes (!) to HIM after finding out he's withheld important info about the stepsister and generally acted like an asshole.

A very tepid read from Margaret Pargeter, the heroine is 21 and recently orphaned and quite shocked who travels to the Hebrides to work as a secretary. There was nothing unpleasant, although the hero's stepsister was annoying, but the hero just didn't work for me. He was not particularly kind until the very last page, where he slightly redeems himself, and there didn't seem to be an awful lot of chemistry. 3 Stars because I enjoyed the setting.

It was a good read until it started to drag around chapter 7.

The heroine pulls some pretty stupid stunts and has to be "rescued" more than once. Knowing that the hero (her boss) disapproves of a romance his sister is involved in, she aids and abets the couple. This recoils and causes trouble later.
