Charlotte's Snowman
Children love building snowmen. When they add a nose, eyes, and mouth to their snowman, they get a magical feeling that their snowman has his own personality.
And… sometimes snowmen do come alive!
Charlotte wakes up and sees that it’s snowing… it’s snowing and it’s snowing. She runs outside to build a snowman. She fixes a carrot for the snowman’s nose, a stick for his mouth, and two stones for his eyes.
But the snowman has many demands, so Charlotte has to part with her gloves, scarf and hat; so her snowman wouldn’t feel cold. But the sun comes up all of a sudden, and Charlotte cannot find her snowman anymore. She is sad. Then, she learns that her snowman hasn’t disappeared completely, but is hiding in the ground, waiting to emerge next winter.
A great book for those children who miss their much loved snowman when winter is over.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Charlotte's Snowman' written by Lainey Dee and illustrated by Sarah-Leigh Willis
Read and reviewed for Lainey Dee, Sarah-Leigh Willis, KABooks and Rachel's Random Resources Tours.
Publication date: 22nd November 2020.
This is the first book we have read by this author but it definitely won't be out last!!!
This book is such a lovely, festive and beautiful book for baby, children and adults alike. One of the things that I really liked about this book and what stood out for me is the fact that it carries several important messages but in a way that is very child friendly. It teaches children that even though it is sad when the snow, Christmas and their snow friends melt that they will be back year after year and it is important to be patient. It very subtly brings the topic of loss into a beautiful storyline that children can relate to and through the snowman children learn to look forward and move on. It can also bring the topic of seasons and the weather into discussions with the children while reading the book to make what is typically an adult conversation into a fun one for the children. Charlotte is such a sweet, happy and friendly character and is a great role model for the children as is her snow friend which is also very important to have in children's books. It was quite emotional to read at the end in regards to having to say goodbye but, again, it ends with a positive message. The illustrations are absolutely delightful, eye catching and with loads of objects to point out, describe and discuss with your children. It really is a fun book to read and perfect with Christmas just around the corner. It would make a fantastic stocking filler or Christmas Eve story to read around the tree!!! It wasn't just myself that enjoyed reading it but my 10 year old son and also one of my 5 year old twin boys. It was written in a way that is easy for children and adults to read and we all took it in turns to read a page (my other twin boy is non-verbal, they both have autism).
Malaki and Hunter loved looking and naming all the different items in the background. We had lots of fun naming all the different things that the children could see in the photos and naming all the colours. It is a fantastic book and I would say it is suitable for any child from new-born up. This book is lovely and short and can be a quick read or be made into a fun long read whichever the reader wishes. The font is a nice style and size making it easy for adults and children to see and read too which is definitely a bonus as I have struggled with some fonts that authors have used in children's books in the past. It would be a great book for children to be read to by their teachers in school as well as friends and family members. Let your children's imaginations come alive with this beautiful festive book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Lainey to my children and hope that she is busy writing and Sarah-Leigh illustrating the next one already!
My 10 year old son Malaki had this to say about this book:
I really enjoyed reading this book. The pictures were really bright and colourful and I thought the story itself was quite sweet although a bit sad too. I really liked Charlotte but my favourite was definitely the snowman!!! ☃️ I really enjoyed reading it to my brothers who are 5 year old and loved showing them the pictures which they liked too.
Amazon rates this book suitable for children 3-7 years old. I would rate from baby to 10 years old.
Congratulations Lainey on writing a gorgeous book and Sarah-Leigh for the stunning illustrations. Here is to your next success 🥂
Overall a beautifully illustrated and sweet festive children's book with important messages.

This was a really sweet children's book. I loved the images. Pictures are really important for kids to help them build their imagination and in this books they are really good.
The story itself was magical. I liked the newly formed friendship between the snoman and Charlotte. It was really important for her to understand why he was melting and this can help parents explain to their children why their snowmen disappear.
I liked the book a lot and would recommend.

This is a very sweet and colourful story about Charlotte's new friendship with a snowman she builds. The illustrations are large and bright, and have a great atmosphere with all the winter clothes, cosy fire, and the garden.
This is a good story for winter time, and being excited to embrace winter and all it has to offer. Then as the seasons change and it becomes warm, and we lose all the happy parts of winter, the snowman reminds Charlotte to stay happy and look forward, not backward. I really appreciated that message and the positivity of it.
I received this book as part of an ARC for Rowanvale Books, all my opinions are unbiased and given willingly.

This such a lovely and heartwarming book about a little girl who is excited to be a snowman for winter, what she doesn't expect is a talking snow man,
There were a number of things I really liked about this book, the storyline for starters was lovely, a perfect and imaginative book for children to read alongside parents (as a parent there is nothing more boring than reading a story thats painfully boring) as well as this there are subjects within the storyline that allows empathy to be included by showing that we should help others. There is a lovely lesson to learn from children books and this one is super valuable for me, Charlotte is such a generously sweet girl and the way she comes across is really important for me as a parent, she just demonstrates the goodness of her character.
The girls loved this book and the illustrations went down really nicely too. As we had snow this year and they were able to make a snowman it was nice for them to learn that each year they can make a new friend when the snow comes back and that fun and excitement is the most fun of all.
I received an advance review copy for free from Booksirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. With thanks to Booksirens, the publisher and the author for a really lovely fun and cute story! Recommend!

I've said it before but I'll say it again I do love when I can share the books I get to review with my little one, and my little one loves to build snowmen and is always upset when they go so this was a really useful one to have. Its written in a way that children can easily follow and think easily read when their just starting to read bigger books by themselves.
My little one spent time asking questions about the snowman and why they melted and about them coming back next year and even stated "When it snows I'll build one and then when they melt they can come back next time it snows!" which was really good because last year we had tears when the snowman family melted.
Its full of very sweet but simple illustrations and I quite liked them, their cute and i don't think I needed anything more to get the point of the story across. My little one defiantly enjoyed the illustrations, they liked the book so much I had to read it twice in one sitting!
Id defiantly say this is a really lovely little book to get for stockings or Christmas eve boxes this Christmas, I already know mine will be wanting it on the Christmas reading list.

Charlotte’s Snowman by Lainey Dee is an absolutely charming tale for the under fives.
It is simply written, enabling young children to easily follow along.
We see the excitement that a snowfall brings and are shown how to build a snowman. But this is no ordinary snowman – read the book to find out why. Capture the wonder on a young child’s face.
It is important to share what we have, care for others and to also look after ourselves.
We learn that sometimes things fade away but we are left with memories as they live on in our hearts.
Charlotte’s Snowman is beautifully and simply illustrated by Sarah-Leigh Wills. The pictures appeal to all with big, open smiling faces.
This is a beautiful book that would be a welcome addition to any child’s personal library.
I received a free copy via Rachel’s Random Resources for a blog tour. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

“Charlotte's Snowman” is a cute little story that captures the essence of friendship between a young girl named Charlotte and a special snowman that can magically talk.
I love the simplicity of the plot. It reveals how Charlotte is initially sad when the snow melts, but she is reassured that she can rebuild her snowman friend again the following winter.
This snowy tale exudes warmth, caring, and friendship. It’s simple narration and dialogue, along with cute and colorful illustrations, delivers an entertaining read for winter.
First Line: Charlotte woke up and noticed that it had been snowing all night and to her delight was still snowing.

As it says on the back cover this is a lovely book for young children who miss their much loved snowman when winter is over.
With the story focussing on what happens to the snowman when the snow melts this is a lovely reassuring book for young children and the illustrations are really apt in describing the story. I was also impressed with the actual size of the book an the font , which is perfect for young children to hold and follow.
There were a couple of pages where I thought there was too much information on them and they should have been split over a few pages which would also have added to the suspense and enjoyment of reading the book together. Considering that everything else about the book seems extremely well though out I was surprised about this .
However, overall this is a lovely book for a child to have read to them at Christmas and also be able to read it themselves when they are older.

Charlotte loves to go out in the snow
To build the best snowman she'll have a go.
What she wasn't expecting was her snowman to say
He was cold when she stayed to play.
Overnight her snowman melts and can't be seen
She's sad that he's gone but what does it mean?
Collecting her clothes, she hears him explain
That he's hiding underground till it snows once again.
A heartwarming read for any children who
Have great imaginations and want dreams to come true.
It give hope that the snowmen they build will return
When back comes the snow for which they yearn.
The story has lovely illustrations, too,
That can promote discussions and are great to view
With short texts on each page in a clear font as well,
Making it a fun story to share as you tell.

I received a review copy in return for my honest review.
This sweet, magical children’s picture book follows Charlotte as she builds a snowman in the garden.
Once her snowman is complete, something magical happens and the snowman starts to speak.
The next day as the sun starts to shine, Charlotte believes her snowman is gone forever, but he soon reminds her she can build him again next year.
This children’s picture book not only has beautiful illustrations but is a lovely, sweet, and magical story.
It is a perfect read for the winter with your little ones and will get you and them in the wintery spirit.
I’m sure my daughter will want to build a snowman just like it.

When I saw this book's cover I just could not resist because it's so cute and I love snowmen.
It's a beautiful cute story that would help kids understand that you can always make another snowman next winter. We used to feel sad when the next day, we found out that our snowman melt because of the sun. It's like a magical friend that we might have for a day or two and we get attached to it, then he is gone.
I would give this book to all the kids around the world to help them understand that their friend will come back.
The illustrations were so wonderful, I really loved it.

5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 because I love Snowmen!
Short time, temporary pleasure.
Not only a childhood pleasure. The rush to build. The excileration. The satafication. Joy for one single event.
The sun comes out and takes it alway, but then there is the promise it will be back next time the snow falls. It will be there waiting for you to rebuild.
Wow!! Such a well written, cute winter tale at Christmas!
You don't have to be a child to enjoy it. Smiles for every one. Read and you will see, your smile will find you.
I received an ARC free from BookSirens and this is my voluntary honest review.

In this delightful picture book, Charlotte happily builds a snowman in her front yard when it snows. She puts two stones, a carrot, and some more stones for eyes, nose and mouth. She really enjoys her talking snowman until one day … he melts. Charlotte then learns a very important lesson about snowmen. The watercolor illustrations in this adorable book are painted in gentle pastels that move the story forward. Charlotte’s Snowman is a very entertaining, well thought out, and well edited book that the youngest readers and listeners will enjoy. For that reason, we award it 5 stars.

A New Take on Snowman Stories
This was a cute story about a snowman and a young girl with a lot of understanding and common sense. Charlotte is a cute little girl who doesn’t lose her sense of playfulness when her snowman melts. I read this story to my grandchildren and they loved it. All too often the illustrator is overlooked, and I’d like to say we loved the illustrations in this book as well as we loved the story. Bright, colorful and well done.

This is a book that I will make sure our pre-school and kindergarten classes have on their shelves. As I read this book they transported me back to my childhood in Indiana. I remember building snowmen and being so sad when it melted. This book stands out because it is simple and speaks to emotions. The illustrations are bright, colorful, and inviting. Maybe it is because they are so simple yet beautiful.

Such a charming children’s story that was filled with uplifting moments, the excitement of snow and the friendship between Charlotte and her special snowman ⛄️
A sweet way to share where our snowmen go when the weather warms up.
Great illustrations that really added to the story well and fitted the writing perfectly.

A charming winter's tale. Perfect for reading whilst cuddled up in a favourite blanket, Charlotte's Snowman will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
Put in mind of the time of the time when our niece {now in her 30's} cried when her Uncle {aka Mr T}, having maintained that indoors was no place for the snowman he had just built her, left him outside to face the elements; that she awoke the following morning to find her new friend gone, nothing but a carrot left, well, you can imagine.
The truly magical read of a truly magical snowman who like all snowmen before him was destined to 'disappear' {if you get my meaning} once the sun showed its face and the snow began to melt. I cannot begin to tell you how much I adored this delightful read with its big, bold, colour illustrations that helped bring the story to life.
Such a wonderful way to celebrate winter, I can see this becoming a firm seasonal favourite to be brought out every year.
