Good tips on sleeping and eating and I appreciate her section on how to not create bad habits in the first 4-6/8 weeks to make getting to the longer stretches in weeks 8-12 easier. It’s a bit strict if you look at following her plan exactly which we don’t intend on doing but it does provide helpful information and ideas on getting babies to sleep longer sooner.
This seems like the Holy Grail for new patients. But I have no idea if it will work lol. I like the confidence of the author on how well this works. So I think we will give it a shot. “Happiest Baby on the Block” says to do the opposite, but idk I want to try this. “Cribsheet” seems to back this one up a bit.
Technically didn’t try this but that’s because I just can’t get behind only feeding a baby 4 times a day, not my parenting style at alllll. Baby eats whenever he wants!!!!
I loved how practical this book was! Her approach is not complicated and very logical to developing good sleep habits. I’ll be referring to it as I sleep train.
I don’t know, seems like torture for me and baby to try to stretch daytime feeds to 4 hours. I think I will just trust her to feed on demand and have already seen some gains in sleep as she has gotten older/bigger and forming her own schedule without much structure/input. I do think it can be comforting to have a plan but this level of rigidity seems like an illusion of control.
Our baby hasn’t arrived yet, so I can’t attest to the effectiveness of this book. However, the principles and philosophies on parenting that were discussed and implemented into the “sleep training” make complete sense. The steps are simple and straight forward. The author seems to have a very traditional style of parenting & discipline and shares a common sense step-by-step guide to hopefully instill a healthy dynamic with Baby when it comes to both our sleeping and sanity. Very quick read!!!
I really want this to magically help but haven’t been testing long enough to attest to effectiveness. I like her recommendations for ways to soothe a waking baby that aren’t feeding-based, and look forward to trying some of those out. There’s still some “cry it out lite” required by this method and that doesn’t work for me as a parent, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for others.
*review subject to change after testing 😂 I appreciated the brevity and straightforwardness of this book. I think that the basics of her limited cry method, daytime feeding routines and day/night toolbelt will help us get Ellie into a better rhythms. The author sometimes presented her way at the only way and I didn’t agree with every suggested method, but super helpful tips and routines.
Very informative and seemingly good approach to sleep training while yet to be tested by me. I’m hesitant to put it into practice as their advice contradicts what I learned in hospital and insurance-led classes but there are some good principles they shared that I plan to use with our child.
A short and sweet audiobook. We started implanting the ideas and methods just a few days ago and our 11 week old is already sleeping more at night and the future looks promising (and more well rested 😵💫)
I can report back after I finally get my son sleeping through the night how it works for me. Where I struggle is logistically and don’t have the ability to have him sleep 12 hours due to work schedules so it discourages me
Short and to the point, intentionally borderline manual while still maintaining a voice. Provided a good road map, but the reality of implementing is very difficult.
I’ve had more time to digest and process the concepts in this book now that my child is coming up on 8 weeks old. The concepts are good in theory but there is no way they work for every baby starting at 8 weeks. Breastfed babies digest milk faster than formula fed babies, so they are going to wake at night for feedings for a while longer. Maybe this works for formula fed babies since formula takes longer to digest, so I’m not convinced this is a must do for every baby because it likely doesn’t work for each baby. I probably will not be sleep/feed trainjng my baby this way. I’m too concerned about weight gain issues and loss of a secure attachment by my child. Every baby will drop off from their night feedings when their bodies adjust and are ready to do so in their own timing.
