Okay. Not much was actually off the beaten path if you live here, but they did have some great side-stories and behind-the-scene stories.

When I was planning our European vacation as a young married couple, I relied extensively on "off the beaten path" books and I felt like they delivered unique and relatively unknown destinations. I didn't get the same feeling for this Colorado guide (eg "Crepes ala Cart" in Breck). Also, the coverage of winter elements seemed lacking, so that may color my impression - perhaps it is better if you are visiting in the summer.
