A small collection of Aubrey Beardsley’s works. There are many books on the market featuring these reproductions, but each selection has somethinng unique. Some of the best examples here would be the side by side comparisons of some illustrations commissioned for Salomé, the uncensored and rejected vs. the modified, accepted version, as well as colour scans—colour photographs?—of the book covers that featured his work. I had not seen most of them before beside the ones for The Yellow Book. In fact I had no idea that one of his drawings had been used for a 1894 translation of Dostoyevsky. I had seen the linework, but never the finished art object. When I think I have seen everything I find there is much and more.

Some of the reproductions leave a little to be desired in terms of image quality but in the half-century since its publication its become easier to access these. Always magic to see Beardsley at a decent size
