My magic is steeped in darkness...and yet the only thing now standing between my coven sisters and the fallen angel hunting us, is celestial magic born of the light.
Sapphire's witch magic has always held an edge of darkness, which is why she lives in solitude--to avoid hurting those she loves. But now her sister and cousin are in peril, and it is up to her to draw on her dark magic to save them.
With hellhound shifter Caden by her side, the task shouldn't be impossible. And yet, facing down a Fallen and his demon followers unleashes far more within Sapphire than she ever knew existed.
Celestial magic--powerful and uncontrolled--now courses through her veins. And if she can't learn how to harness and control the light magic, she might end up killing everyone she loves, not only in the human realm, but everywhere.
A dark and edgy paranormal fantasy romance series, perfect for fans of K.F. Breene, Linsey Hall, Dannika Dark and Jaymin Eve.
Read BEWITCHED IN DARKNESS for the thrilling conclusion to the HELLHOUND PROTECTORS trilogy!
Author's note:
This series is set in the same world as the BLOOD FAE CHRONICLES series. Read both, and enjoy!

REVIEW: 3.75 stars—BEWITCHED IN DARKNESS is the third and final instalment in Jen Katemi’s contemporary, adult HELLHOUND PROTECTORS paranormal/fantasy romance series focusing on three witches, the Redferne sisters: Topaz, Amethyst and Sapphire. This is twenty-five year old witch Sapphire Redferne, and Hellhound Caden’s story line. BEWITCHED IN DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the trilogy in order. The Hellhound Protectors is a spin off from the author’s Blood Fae Chronicles series.
SOME BACKGROUND: Topaz Redferne has been targeted by Adriel, demon of the Underworld but Topaz escaped death with the help of the Fae, and Azriel wants another soul to even the score, so he sets his sights on Amethyst and Sapphire Redferne. When Amethyst escaped Azriel’s attempts, Sapphire knows she may be the only hope in stopping Azriel from destroying so many lives.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Caden and Sapphire) BEWITCHED IN DARKNESS picks up shortly after the events of book two BEWITCHED IN DREAMS. Sapphire Redferne has always been consider the ‘baby’ of the family; the immature witch with limited powers but something or someone is calling to Sapphire, and our heroine believes she is more darkness than light. Setting out to settle to score with the fallen angel Azriel, Sapphire finds herself with a ‘babysitter’ in the form of Hellhound Caden, a one-time captain in Azriel’s army but Sapphire will quickly discover that her magic is something more than she could have ever imagined. A visit to the Celestials at the Accord Headquarters is about to reveal our heroine’s true powers, powers that are going to be needed to defeat the former angel Azriel. What ensues is the building relationship between Caden and Sapphire, and the potential fall-out as Azriel sets into motion plans to rule the world, using his followers as a means of power.
The relationship between Caden and Sapphire begins as an assignment, one that Caden seems less than happy to oblige but Caden is desperate to end Azriel’s reign, and the control the fallen angel has over everyone else. Sapphire was instantly attracted to our story line hero, an attraction that did not go unnoticed by Caden himself. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
All of the previous story line couples plays secondary and supporting characters. Topaz and Amethyst struggle to watch Sapphire set out on her own but with each having their Hellhound protector, it was only a matter of time before Sapphire found her own guardian to love.
BEWITCHED IN DARKNESS is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, love and acceptance. The fast paced premise is entertaining and intriguing; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and stubborn.
The writing on this series became so formulistic, with the reluctant hellhound shifter and the spunky witch. Caden was a bit more neanderthal than the other two mated hellhounds from the previous stories. At least Sapphire stood up for herself and told him that his mistreatment wasn’t working for her.
Caden hauled her around and made decisions for her constantly. Not sure if his monosyllabic answers were supposed to come across as enigmatic, for me it made me roll my eyes. Drives me crazy when the male treats the female poorly and all she can do is gush about how he makes her female bits take notice. I felt no chemistry between these two. So, when Caden finally admits that he has been lusting after her (even though I knew he’s supposed to) my brain went, “you sure don’t act like it”.
After the great big build up about how unstoppable the bad guy was, his demise was so easy that for a second I thought I had accidentally skipped a page or two. Went back to make sure I hadn’t missed something because the ending was so anticlimactic.
This is normally one of my go to authors that writes well rounded characters with depth that I really can get into. Unfortunately for me this series was lighter than I would have liked, with forgettable characters.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW of Bewitched in Darkness, the third book in the Hellhound Protectors by Jen Katemi. I really enjoyed that this trilogy followed each of the jewel witches and their hellhound protector as a group and individually. Caden and Sapphire have a hard way to go in this read. With Azriel hunting the witches and demanding his due, Sapphire has come to the realization that she may have to use the darkness in her magic to fight him. I love that this story picks up just after the events in the second book and the continuity makes it important to read the series in order. A great culmination to this mini series.

This story is the last in the trilogy and therefor e is best enjoyed after the first two. Sapphire, the female lead, is assigned Caden, the male lead, as her protector who can assist her to get close to the evil one. As he protects her, they draw close to each other emotionally.
This story is dual POV, well written, and had, in the end, a simple finish that closed out the trilogy. It left me with quite a few questions but was cute enough to leave me satisfied.

I loved reading as Caden had enough faith in Sapphire for both of them. With his love and support, she was able to face her fears about the powers she held within. Together, with the help of her family and his, they succeeded in defeating the darkness, and got a hard won HEA!

Third book of the series has kick-ass witch, Sapphire, meeting hellhound, Caden, her babysitter. Sapphire always knew she had strong magic but what she didn't know that it was celestial light magic. With Caden and the others by her side, will she be able to defeat Azrial once and for all?

Really enjoyed the end to the trilogy. The sisters and their protectors come together once again to bring an end to the evil trying to destroy them and their world. This trilogy was my first introduction to Jen Katemi and I will definately read more.

This is a good read and the conclusion to the trilogy. The main characters have some issues and are at odds for a time before coming to terms with their destiny. There are revelations, but still, answers to be had, and a HEA.

Caden & Sapphire are quite possibly my favourite couple of the series! I read this in one sitting and was left wanting more. I really hope there are more storylines to follow for these sisters. I received this book as an ARC and my review is voluntary.
It was a similar plot line than the other books in the series. And the ending was basically the same as the X-Men movie with Hugh Jackman as wolverine getting burned by Jean Grey's uncontrolled power... Except Caden doesn't die. It was Okay though.
I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind, and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading, I could not put it down until I read the last page.
