Reading Walt Whitman Rostow's review of the theories of economic growth is like reading an extended college thesis, complete with graphs, charts, and mathematical models. But Rostow's humanity and brilliance shine through everywhere; I learned a lot about the most significant economists since the 18th century. And he concludes with several prescient, though-provoking chapters on the future of the world political economy. Worth reading, but not a quick book.
