Out of the mists of legend, a Robin Hood tale with the unlikeliest of heroes... For four years, the Sheriff of Nottingham has ruled his shire with a single malevolent to rid Sherwood Forest of the outlaws who claim amnesty in its woodland depths. Only ambush and injury could force him to seek aid from a village herb woman, the widowed Thea Aelredson, whose allegiance belongs to the very brigands who are the Sheriff’s sworn enemies. And only madness could make him love her. Now his obsession to claim Thea’s heart and command her loyalty might undermine even the darkest of the Sheriff’s ambitions. An adventure of bold passion, treachery, and intrigue, where honor is found in the most unexpected of places.
Overwritten purple prose and a slogging, poorly thought-out plot. Weak characters. How can you fail to make the Sheriff of Nottingham compelling?! The FMC is a Mary Sue, good at everything and everyone wants her desperately. There’s also the incredibly dated trope of bitchy other woman who is bad because she likes sex. FMC is also somehow a peasant woman in the 12th century who not only can read and write, but also owns an “inches thick” paper journal. Hmm. DNF at 30%. Not worth the time it took to track down.
