A biography of the stage and film actor best known for his role as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, showing him to be a complex and difficult man as well as an extraordinary actor
This book was seriously hampered by the fact that I found Rex Harrison to be unlikeable, and the author spent most of the time trying to apologize for Rex's various missteps in life. His treatment of his wives and lovers was generally callous and misogynistic, he seemed deeply insecure and willing to lash out, and pretty selfish; there was a bit about him only accepting one lady in a revival of My Fair Lady and refusing to let others take on the role even when the leading lady was destroying her own vocal cords trying to play the part. Made it through, but only out of stubbornness.
