Finally finished this masterpiece and let me tell ya….
Rating: ⭒ ⭒ ⭒ ⭒ ⭒
Reading this book felt like I was immersed in a thriller movie about problems with rival crime families, children betraying their crime lord father to help rescue a sex-trafficking victim and reunite her with her family, and of course some shoot em’ up scariness & a love triangle thrown in there for a little spice. ;)
This book is amazing in so many ways,
1. Emily brings to light the topic of sex slavery and how awful and traumatic it can be, even after gaining “freedom.”
2. When the characters are reflecting on their pasts, Emily bolds these sections of the book so that you truly feel like you have experienced that moment with them.
3. It made my heart happy the amount of unconditional love that was scattered throughout this book.
4. Emily does a great job of showing throughout this book that those who truly care about you will never give up on you, no matter the circumstances.

Awful. The writing was juvenile with underdeveloped characters. I was 64% in and decided to call it quits, which I NEVER do, but you can’t say that a character is almost an adult then in the next paragraph say his prepubescent voice cracked. So many frustrating things like this that I found myself skimming pages just to get through it. Then figured there are so many books that I want to read why waste my time on this one. I have no clue why all 27 reviews of this book say that it was fantastic.

This was an amazing debut novel! The descriptive writing had me captivated from beginning to end…. I can’t wait for the next book in this series to be released!

i am itching for the next book!! i can’t wait to see what happens next!! the details within this book of what’s going on will have you hooked in from literally the first page. i’m team Tony though, as of right now lol. i like Jenner but he’s a bit dramatic for my liking. i really could feel the pain that Avii endured and what she had to go through. the flashback scenes really brought that to life. there’s plenty of twists & turns that took me by surprised and i audibly reacted to this book many times. i’m so excited to see how it ends and i am rooting for Avii to get the ending she deserves.

Omg I love this book so much. I stood up till 1am reading it!! I couldn’t put it down!! It kept me on the edge of my seat! ❤️❤️

This was an interesting read while shedding light on a rather taboo subject. I completely fell in love with the characters!
***Spoilers ahead***
That being said, there were several cliche lines that I could have gone without. And in my opinion, there are too many loose ends, giving it the feel that it is unfinished. I realize that this is book one of a series but there were no conclusions made at all. Avii never truly found safety. She never made any progress in her love triangle. And now we have Gabrielle to find. I would have chosen just one of those to be the cliff hanger for the next book as this book cannot stand alone at all.
4/5 stars as I did enjoy this author's writing style. I look forward to seeing what she comes out with in the future.

This book is an all time favorite by this author! I have read this book several times now! I look forward to the other 2 books in this series! The author Emily has a way with words so ass you read it you can visualize what is happening (like watching a movie in your mind)! Please read her trigger warnings before reading! Absolutely love Emily and her book!
