I also don’t like how Yan Yu kept emphasizing till the end how he is now successful and could make his former class presidents work for him. I get that that was the drive behind his success, but since they’re together now, emphasizing that seems like undermining his own boyfriend.
This was sweet and cute. The characters, Yan Yu (MC) and Chen Yifei (ML) were mature men in their late 20s, so their relationship was fresh and stable. There wasn't any unecessary drama that was borne from lack of proper communication, and I liked the way their relationship progressed. They were both sweet on each other and treated each other with mutual respect, and even though YY was CYF's boss, there was no imbalance of power in their relationship. I also liked how they both did what they could to make the other happy, even if it was the smallest things, it was clear that YY and CYF very much cared for and were considerate of each other.
This was a short, fun, wish fulfilling read (for the grade a student that they will have some sugar daddy in the future even if they become an office worker, and for the slacker that they'll eventually be able to boss around the school darling).
I thought the dynamic was very sweet, though the falling in love process was a bit strange.
Yan Yu, a problematic student in elementary school, made a vow to Chen Yifei, the top student in his class, that one day, Chen Yifei will work for him. Fast forward to many years later. Yan Yu is a successful businessman. Unexpectedly, Chen Yifei, who was at the top in every aspect of his life, came to Yan Yu’s company interview for the position as his assistant.
It was mentioned that Chen Yifei needed a job with better pay because he was having financial problems at home which was never elaborate. It was also mentioned that he had some rough time after 'coming out' before he patched things up with his family and yet, those families were never introduced.
One of the main reasons Chen Yifei rejected Yan Yu the first time he confessed was because he was afraid Yan Yu couldn't face society as their relationship was considered taboo in their country. But, Yan Yu, his family, and friends were cool with it while it seemed that Chen Yifei was the one struggling.
As the story and their relationship progressed, more characters were introduced which, I skimmed mostly because I wanted the main couple. Not that the side couples weren't interesting but, they weren't as cute as the main couple.
Their relationship was a perfect balance because Chen Yifei was a perfectionist while Yan Yu was laidback. There wasn't much conflict as Yan Yu was always blunt and never kept a secret. In Yan Yu eyes, Chen Yifei will always be the perfect Classroom President that could do anything. And it was sweet whenever we get tidbits of Chen Yifei's insight because it showed how important Yan Yu was to him.
Boss x subordinate, former delinquent x top student, free spirit x cold perfectionist. There are two side couples, I didn't see the point to mention them because they just randomly appear in between chapters and the rival at the end who made Mr. Top Unexpressive lover to be a little, just a little bit jealous. All in all is a good story to pass the time with.
