Tom Taylor finishes up his first arc in a decent way.

I still am liking Superman title I just felt this arc ended simple. There's some great moments with Jon and Damien. Some really cool "Do not mess with my family" moments too with Jon that worked really well. But the big bad here isn't nearly as evil or scary as I hoped and the story seems a bit disjointed here. But overall still going to hang on here for a few more arcs! A 3 out of 5.

I am very much enjoying Jonathan Kent, son of Clark and Lois, aka Superman, son of Kal-El, as a bisexual hero, in love with Jay Nakamura. Good stuff. I really like how both DC and Marvel are expanding their universes to women, people of color, queer people.

Good stuff.

I'm really enjoying Jon more than I have in the past. He takes his job as a hero and emerging from his father's Shadow seriously but still takes the time to have those slice of Life moments that balance life and give it more meaning than simply being the Earth's protector. I absolutely love that Damian came back because I love those two together and their rapport is so much like a brotherhood that they can trust each other when not even Batman and Superman can do that. And I love the similarities in Jon and Lois in regards to Damian's grin, and how that links Damien to his father because you never see Batman grin and if you do it's rather disconcerting. LOL overall, this series has a good balance of familial and friendship interactions along with an interesting story that is based in comics but grounded in reality. It does seem like something more should have come of the confrontation with the ship but it kind of seems like the story is revolving more around John trying to do things in a more human way to address the larger picture for long-term results. He could just fly to Gamora and remove the leader but that doesn't really fix the problem when that person can easily be replaced and the underlying problem continues. But with Jay at his side collecting evidence, Jon is also doing things the way his mother would, which really blends the best attributes of Lois and Clark.

I continue to enjoy this series but other then a few moments I still haven't really been wowed by it.

It's on my pull and I'll definitely collect until issue #12 and at that point I may drop it and pick it up later in trades.

Today I dropped Titans Academy and I wanna shake things up as well as prepare for more of the Miniseries that have excited me.

Crush & Lobo, One-Star Squadron, Blue and Gol, Justice League Incarnate, and so on.

Loads of great series currently in DC and Superman Son Of Kal-El is one of them, check it out!

A satisfying end to the first arc. I am still not a fan of the face models but the story is top notch and what I like most in a Superman story. Jon is getting a chance to truly shine and develop. This has easily become one of my favorite comics out right now.

The best part of this issue was when Damian Wayne, Jon's best friend, Jay, Jon's boyfriend, and Lois Lane, Jon's mom all meet each other breaking and entering somewhere they didn't have enough access clearance.

Included in my Pride Month 2023 reading list.

Greatest part of this volume will always be Damien being an amazing detective and immediately being happy for Jon and accepting him

Well, the figure art STILL sucks, with an artist who wants to belittle and mock the title, but the narrative is a bit more interesting.

Nice to see Kal-El, Slayer of Monsters, get all twisted up in knots because he's nervous about talking to a boy he likes.
