Pride, rumored to be the strongest of the Seven Deadly Sins Generals, has fallen. The balance of power between the races has been broken. The Lerien continent has been engulfed once again into the vicious flames of war, and the Demon Lord was forced into a losing battle. 200 years later, in a small village, Pride has been reborn as a human boy. With his soul cleansed and mind unhindered, he plans to use this second chance to atone for his sins and become someone he can be proud of.
A real page turner. Even though dark fantasy isn't my favorite kind of novel, I gave this one a chance because I found the theme of the seven deadly sins and struggling to regain the pride of being yourself, appealing. Reading something "fresh" from a brand new author was a plus. I surely didn't regret spending a few sleepless nights to finish it as it's a book that's very hard to put down. I loved the fact that every single character have their dark and their "human" side. One chapter you find them disgusting, in the next one, the author manages to make you sympathize with them, then hate them again.
Demons with regrets, Demons with freedom of will. It is reminiscent of the ancient Greek proverb: No evil is without good, and no good exists without evil, but the personification of evil. In this book, Antonis Kamenakis delves deeply into human emotion and situations, in the sphere of the supernatural.
A great read! I liked the fact that battles are described with many details but are still not at all tiring. Can't wait to read the second and third part of this trilogy.
