Julia Donner (aka M.L.Rigdon) grew up in historic Galena, IL, USA, and spent most of her time in the museum of her aunt, who encouraged her interest in history and understood the need to cherish a dream. She started writing in secret in her teens and never stopped, merging it with her mother's encouragement to study theater and music, which led to performing in the Midwest, California and as far away as Austria.

Donner never forgot what it was like to write alone as a girl and is a happy member of Summit City Scribes. Concern for the failing educational system led her to develop Your Futures in Ink, a panel of local and regional authors, who go into to schools to encourage students and answer questions about writing.

THE TIGRESSE AND THE RAVEN, first book in the regency Friendship Series, is an RWA contest finalist. The ninth book in the series, A ROGUE FOR MISS PRIM and the tenth, AN AMERICAN FOR AGNES, are available now. A LAIRD’S PROMISE will be released by Spring 2018.

I love Julia Donner's Regency romances, but I think this one is my favorite out of the entire series. The Duchess, in her middle forties, thinks of herself as over the hill. Far from it, and when the Marquis gets her dander up, he finds her not only beautiful and intelligent, but feisty and desirable. And darned hard to woo. But this man is up to the challenge. I had so much fun wondering what he'd do next. And under all of his worldly boredom, he's a wonderful human being. Such a fun book!

You can also expect a enjoyable, well plotted, character rich romance from Ms. Donner. The spice level of her recent offerings has decreased from steamy to simmer. Otherwise, When a Marquis Commands is exactly what you should expect from this talented writer.

Evelyn’s story was stronger

The last two in this series have had more than one romance. I enjoy that, but i felt that Daphne’s resolution in this story was weak. Five months later, he walks in and they finally talk. Okay.

Great romp

Ms. Donner's characters are wonderful. The men are hilariously self possessed and the ladies, iron maidens disguised as fainting lillies. Many great scenes to enjoy!

Loved It

What a lead couple, haven't enjoyed reading, getting to know, care about characters such as Florian and Evelyn in a long time. First time reading this author and since this is book 15 of this friendship series so looking forward starting at book 1thru 14. Luckily for me they are available on Kindle Unlimited though I will buy this story and any other that I love.
