- Exceptional - Proclaimed a prodigy by the Coven's High Priest, Ayden could manipulate all four elements of magic with equal skill. A talent he chose to hide from his peers.
- Pyromancer - A rare skill even among the magically gifted, his visions in fire showed him cryptic scenes of the future. To others, his unreliable ability meant only heartache and despair.
- Obsession - Chantal had witnessed more than veiled visions in her youth. She had stood beside a woman who murmured the chilling Prophecy of the Twins and then perished. Her husband, a twin, and her twin sons only served to convince her the dead woman had spoken the dire warning directly to her.
- Passion - Ayden saw Margaret in his first fire-vision at thirteen. From that moment on, he believed their love to be inevitable, their destiny and passion as enduring as his visions, able to overcome any obstacle. Or so he thought.
I must admit this was my first paranormal novel, but have always been a big fan of historical romances. And I was not disappointed. This book held me captivated from the very beginning! A paranormal historical romance full of passion and intrigue. The storyteller takes you deep into the soul and lives of two young lovers. The heated affection between Ayden and Margaret was both romantic and magical. I was spellbound by the look into the rituals of the coven and the secret practices of historical witches and the Elements to which they are blessed with. At the end, I found myself rushing to the second book of the series, Pyromancer. Great book! I look forward to many more novels authored by C. Marie Bowen!
Prodigy surprised me in the best way. The blend of historical setting and paranormal elements feels rich and atmospheric, and Ayden is a character you connect with instantly. His hidden power, especially his unsettling fire visions, adds a sense of mystery that kept me invested. Chantal’s fear of the prophecy brings tension that builds quietly but steadily, and it ties the whole story together in a really compelling way. What stood out most, though, was the romance Ayden’s certainty about Margaret from such a young age feels both tender and haunting. Overall, it’s a captivating mix of magic, fate, and emotion. A refreshing read if you love supernatural stories with real heart.
