One Piece of Paper at a Time

Rate this book
One Piece of Paper at a Time celebrates the tenth anniversary of Paper for Water, a nonprofit which aims to end the global water crisis and gives a behind-the-scenes perspective into the organization’s transformation. Through origami ornament proceeds and supportive donations, Paper for Water transforms lives by bringing water and the Word to the thirsty.

The Adams sisters demonstrate how a service-based heart spurs radical transformation and positively impacts the world. At 18 and 15 years old, Isabelle and Katherine serve as co-CEOs and share how their single idea journeyed to the present day, raising millions of dollars and impacting 20 countries. Page by page, fold by fold, the reader witnesses how Paper for Water has provided hundreds of clean water projects and uncovers the lessons learned along the way.

One Piece of Paper at a Time showcases that while it may not always be easy to build something, great change initiates one person, one idea, one piece of paper at a time.

I personally know both of the Adams girls and was blown away by the book. I have been around them since their birth and have always known of their many adventures. But WOW!!! The telling of their story in this book was incredible and so inspiring. From reading their book, I was able to almost relive their journey on getting clean water to so many. I am very proud of them and their hard work and dedication to others. It makes me want to do better in my own life of trying to serve others.

A delightful and effortless read through the (first!) ten years of Isabelle’s and Katherine’s journey to bring access to CLEAN water, and God’s Word, to those in our world who don’t have it. What began as a sweet craft project to raise funds for the pediatric burn unit at a local hospital, quickly turned in to a life-long, family, commitment that is radically improving the lives of children and adults across the globe.

I highly recommend this book for all, as it tells a story of how the innocence of children can become a catalyst for so much good! Sometimes we adults can be cynical when young people share their seemingly crazy ideas for wanting to help. We think we know better, so let our doubts get in the way of their excitement and creativity! I applaud parents Deb and Ken for charging forward in the early days, educating the girls on what it takes to plan for, and work toward, making a dream become reality. The diligence, persistence, and patience of their family, and all those involved in the organization, has made a tremendous impact in our world. They will never know how many lives they have enriched, improved, and quite literally saved, by folding one piece of paper at a time. And as they continue to fold, they will continue to inspire and motivate all who meet them and hear their story!

It has been my honor to know this extraordinary family, and be part of Paper for Water’s story!

The story of Isabelle and Katherine
is an inspirational story for all of us!
The amount of dedication, tenacity, hard work, and sacrifice that those girls have gone through over these ten years is really inspiring.

Their story is one that invites us to analyze the values and principles that we adopt throughout our lives, and to understand the importance of compassion not only for others, but for our planet.

Their ability to understand the needs of others at such a young age, and their power to achieve their goals is incredibly potent and unique.

This story will serve as an inspiration for many young people and will cause them to reflect more deeply on how to connect with others and be the good they want to see in the world.

My best wishes to Isabelle and Katherine on their way through life! You are amazing young women!

The amazing ongoing journey of two young girls (now young women) who have a mission to serve The Thirsty. The Thirsty being those in need of clean, potable water and to the growing number of Donors and Volunteers that are thirsting to make a positive difference in the world by supporting Paper for Water. It is an inspiring story that will not only raise your own awareness of the world water crisis but it will make you want to participate in their journey in whatever way that you can, knowing that you are never to old or young to make a difference … a must read for all ages.

Written by 18 and 15 year old sisters documenting their 10 year journey to build a non-profit that helps deliver clean water and the Word to the Thirsty. The story starts when they're 8 and 5 years old and follows them on trips to India, Peru, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia seeing the villages that are transformed by a water project.

Thoughtfully written by the two young women, the reader catches glimpses of the struggles and joys that daily punctuate their lives. At the onset of their journey, the young girls create origami ornaments and exchange them for donations to build a project in Ethiopia. Their success surprises them and they enroll their family into helping them. Then they add friends and neighbors and then volunteers from their community. The stories of how their organization was built told from the eyes and voice of these young women will touch your heart and make you want to join their crusade.

Grab a copy today and read and then share their story with your kids, your friends, your family and your co-workers. This great story will rejuvenate you and remind you that humanity is good and that we were put here on earth to help others.

A very good book on how the non-profit Paper for Water got started. Isabelle and Katherine Adams developed a desire to get clean water to people who desperately need it. This desire starts while they are in elementary school! With some help from their parents they set off to see where the path will lead. Now 10 years later Paper for Water helps supply clean water to those in need, across the US and the globe. Katherine and Isabelle clearly show what you can do with a little spark inside you. The book has great enjoyable stories in it about this journey to provide clean water. Some of the stories are quite humorous. I highly recommend this book. Your heart will be warmed.
