PROS:
- A lot of useful information.
- I liked the real case studies to explain the material.

CONS:
- The voice is dry and boring despite all of the real case studies (which were my favorite part).
- Doesn't get to the point fast enough. I read the entire book and still do not understand what the author was even saying. Probably because the book was dry and boring.

First, the title and cover to the book do not match the content. This book is not about becoming, hiring, or attracting influencers. The topic is about creating a brand in such a way that other people love you, which, whittled down to its essence (according to the author) is about celebrating your core values and not telling a bunch of stories about how wonderful your company is. This book is for BUSINESSES not individual people. So, as a business, you want everyone to be a brand ambassador by celebrating your business. How does a company achieve that? By wearing its heart on its sleeve.

The issue that I have is that Malcolm Gladwell the author is not. I was not drawn into this book nor was I incentivized to keep reading because the material was not presented in a fun and interesting manner. My suggestion would be to feature the case studies more prominently. Also, the author should get to the point faster (and have a clearly defined point ... as I stated in the "Con" section, I read the entire book and still have no idea what the point was). I'll be honest here. I thought a lot of the book was dusty filler.

I feel that this book could be a smashing success if rewritten to be ... something. Like, funny, inspirational, or whatever.

I received an advanced copy from netgalley in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

At one point, I wanted to learn about branding; and I'd tried to browse through many books from different authors on the shelves but none supplied me the answer I'm looking for.

Then, I discovered one more book: Everyone is an influencer by Kelly Keenan. I gave it a try and browsed. On that moment, I admit this is the book that I'm looking for. So i bought it to read further.

It took me just few front pages to fully admit that Mr Keenan's method is genuine and true. The more I read, the more I believe him. However, I'm not just a reader. I always study books and apply to see their effectiveness.

I did applied his method (not completely because Mr Keenan also stated that reassessment is required) and already many of my endeavours thrive. You may check them up on my TikTok @matinsafrain and @thelibrarist.

It's all about brand celebration and redirecting to brand's values to storytelling. That's branding. That's what Mr Keenan taught me.

Till then, I hold his knowledge dearly; that to the point each time I introduce his fundamentals to certain people and later they disagree, I feel the disgust.

Hence, I encourage all marketers to learn from Mr Keenan by buying his book and understand his ways.

The book is seeming written about branding but if you give it your attention and look deeper, there is a tremendous perspective that can be unlocked. I feel the only reason that reviewers enjoy the book but are not excited and appreciative of the way that the book outlines the three components of a comprehensive story, is because they are missing it.

There is one full orange page in this book that details how the three components of a story (your attitude, drive, and direction) can be defined to establish trust for every type of individual. This is how to create a game changing connection for any story you seek to define.

The pages then detail how defining each area together elevates each independently because “they borrow from each other.” The book not only states this, it clearly details how this takes place masterfully in such a clear way that if you get, it completely changes your understanding. It’s an awakening to a different way to view your opportunity to define a story. If you are missing this, you should read these area over again and look deeper.

Very concise and easy to read. The book primarily focuses on value-sharing amongst employees. I would recommend the book to people working for companies of any size. In other words, the book does not elaborate much on personal branding, although I still ended up gleaning some invaluable insights and tips to manage my own SNS platform. Although it was not exactly what I was hoping to get, there were many relevant examples to help readers understand better ambiguous concepts or what the author wants to highlight.

A concise book that can give you useful information that we can put in practice. No real inventor of any new concept, its just a reminder that one must tell the truth, be an enthusiast and most importantly believe in what you have or love and influence others to love it as well. Only passion, proactive actions and leadership can make a difference; its all about being part of a story not just narrating a story but celebrating it. It can start with one person.
