Mila and the Monsters

Rate this book
An endearing and simple story about being a little bit afraid of the dark. For brave toddlers ages 30 months and up, with a focus on the child’s emotions.

Mila is lying in her bed in Mommy’s house. It’s dark all around her. Very dark. Mommy forgot to check if there were any monsters! Daddy always checks, but this is Mommy’s house. Does Mommy have someone to chase away the monsters? Who could that be?

While this book helps those little ones who may be afraid of the monsters that come out at night, it begins with several pages of regular activities that the little girl Mila dies before it gets dark. Since she comes from a divorced or at least separated set of parents, things can be different from one home to the next. Yet it is the ending for what keeps that monsters at bay that I particularly enjoyed.

Countdown to Kindergarten: Letter M

Lots of M words. Story starts with a reference to living with Mommy some of the time and living with Daddy some of the time. The monster topic was a little scary to one of my participants, but I think the story was fine over all.

Every preschooler should have an instruction manual for how to make sure there are no monsters. This is your go to.

This was so cute! A little girl named Mila is getting ready for bed, but she is afraid of monsters. Her mommy is patient with her and helps her to not be afraid. Loved the pictures, too!
