A Home Within is a powerful anthology, discussing themes of body image, mental health, and self-love. With three overarching chapters - Lost, Searching, and Found - readers will follow CM Writer on a captivating, thought-provoking journey towards finding the home within ourselves.
I am searching for a paradise, for a home I know exists in my skin, my bones, myself.
This is the journey of finding the home within.
CM Writer, going also by Cassandra Mackenzie Wood, is a young Canadian poet, novelist and storyteller. She is committed to posting daily poetry to her Instagram platform @CM.Writer. She has also written several novels and short prose. With the power of her words, Cassandra hopes to spread awareness of mental health and social issues that impact the world today. A Home Within is her fourth poetry publication.
A Home Within is a beautiful and reflective journey about healing, self-love, freedom, and returning to yourself. Many of the passages felt comforting, uplifting, and deeply meaningful. Some of the lines that stayed with me most were: “Life is too short to spend it criticizing yourself. Self love is the way to freedom.” “No matter who they want you to be no matter who you think you should be you are enough right now. You are worthy of the life you want to live.” “Chase what makes you happy like the butterfly rides the wind. It doesn't have to make sense to everyone, But it has to inspire you To live your best life. Nourish your soul.” And the ending felt especially powerful and peaceful: “It is a strange feeling; Departing from what I've always known and yet coming back to who I've always been. The search is done. I have found the home within.” This book gently reminds readers that healing is not about becoming someone else, but about reconnecting with who we truly are. A thoughtful and inspiring read for anyone on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and inner peace.
This book is incredible. It is the 4th book from CM Writer, and I am still finding myself amazed by how much I am able to learn about myself through her words. The themes of body dysmorphia, anxiety, self acceptance, and self care are developed so amazingly well—in particular, the ideals that are established around loving yourself, for seeing the beauty in all your flaws (and realizing that they are not actually flaws at all), for accepting yourself for where you've been, for where you are, for where you're going... It all resonated with me so much, and I think this is certainly another must-read from CM Writer. There is truly something inspiring here for everyone.
Wow, wow, wow. What more is there to say about this collection?
A Home Within is not only a collection of short and long poems, it is CM Writer's journey from self-doubts to self-love.
This book left me speechless. It is raw, honest, deep, vulnerable, and most importantly full of hope and little reminders to treat ourselves better and to love ourselves despite our imperfections. The book addresses topics as eating disorder, body image, depression and more. CM Writer is a true advocate for mental health.
Reading A Home Within inspired me in many ways and I would highly recommend it.
