On the Right Path: Book Two written by Brett Gunning and Stacy Padula continues the story of siblings Jayden, Jordan, and Jasmine and their friend Shai as they attend basketball camp. While the children practice basketball and improve their skills, they also learn that being a good teammate involves more than simply playing well. The story uses situations on the basketball court to teach the characters why it is important to share, include others, and give everyone an opportunity to participate.
The main lesson in this book is the importance of being unselfish. It teaches children that working as a team means passing the ball, encouraging others, listening, and sometimes putting the needs of the group before their own. I liked how the authors used basketball to make the lesson exciting and relatable without making it feel like a lecture. The message can also apply to the classroom, friendships, and family life. I would recommend this book to children between the ages of three and eight, especially young athletes or children who are learning how to cooperate, share, and be supportive members of a group.

On the Right Path Book Two, by Stacy Padula and Brett Gunning, is a children's book that continues to teach important life lessons to children. Book two in the series takes place at the basketball camp but focuses on Jayden's younger brother, Jordan. Jordan is so focused on making a basket by himself that he didn't notice that one of his friends was open to help him make the basket. Coach Pete uses this moment to explain the importance of putting the needs of others before yourself. This tends to be a tough lesson for young children to understand. However, showing this lesson both in a team setting and outside of basketball makes it easier for children to understand this lesson. On the Right Path Book Two, helps children know that putting another person's needs before their own can be as easy as sharing a piece of pizza or a toy.
