This short collection of ballads and sea-songs is a delight. Mr. Healy writes with a great deal of fondness and humour for his subject. The copy I read was from an academic library, it's quite old and since it was published as a paperback it may be hard to track down, but is worth the effort. This offers a broad introduction to the many sub-families of Irish folk songs oriented around the seafaring life quickly, and engagingly. Mr. Healy's simple line illustrations add to the book considerably, and the economic use of space mean that each written song has music for the would-be singer or player.
